  • Seating problem on R15

Hey i have started facing a very peculiar problem last few months(6-7 months), kindly note that Earlier it was not there.

I am 5'5" 72 Kg riding Yamaha R15 V1 and i am started facing seating problem i mean i feel very comfortable in groin area due to my inner wear or something like that when riding more than 40-50 minutes.

What could be problem is it my seating posture which changed without my knowledge or my body shape changing or what?

If anyone have clue, kindly suggest.

    Query Approved

If it is a problem in the groin, then it could be because of bad underwear. I find wearing boxers for long rides very uncomfortable.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

well a few things comes to my mind but then need to know a few things first.have you changed over from a commuter bike to the sporty r15 one in the last 6-7 months, have you changed your posture itself on the bike say leaning forwards more by going back on the saddle than you used to.may be if you are into gym, weights and a long session on the treadmill could havemade you pull your groin, can be a nasty pothole which you never paid any attention to, could be tight fitting innerwear....i mean can be anything. IMHO since we are not doctors we may not be able to guide you in the right direction and sometimes advice can have negative effect on your psyche too.since you say it starts after 30- 40 mins after riding i would suggest visiting a doctor which can put your mind to rest.there is nothing like early medical help and as all of us are here because we love biking so much please dont take chances with your health man.remember safety and health first.

Same problem I have faced on many occasions. Try sitting a bit away from the fuel tank. Try adjusting your trousers during the ride so that they free the space up in that area. Sometimes the fabric of the pants 'accumulates' in the groin and exerts pressure

Dont look at girls wearing exposing clothes while riding, erection also leads to discomfort.
On a serious note, try riding some other bike (with a not so aggressive posture or maybe RE) for 40-50 mins and with a comparitively loose trouser, and if you feel the same pain, visit a doctor asap, the problem is within. But if not, then maybe you can shift to boxers.
And yes, dont sit touching to the tank as it could hurt and also dont sit way behind as it will actually crush your groin towards seat.

Yes, i think its the same problem fabric accumulates in that area and exert pressure. Or good suggestion i will switch my inner wear to see if problem persist

I tries to seat far away from fuel tank but as i start to brake or pot holes after some time i just slip near to tank automatically , can any seat cover will help??

I can't see how wearing different chuddies will help, the v1 doesn't have the stickiest of seat material (the v2 has good vinyl). Have you used anything other than automotive shampoo to clean the seat, any vinyl polishes will make the seat more slippery. Those seat covers you see on the roadside, showrooms etc are very unlikely to improve matters.

One thing you can do is ensure you're at least slightly leaned over the tank, this helps keeping your ass in the right place when braking, posture is everything or you could buy a Honda dio seat and use the fabric to recover the 15's seat, it's nice and sticky, just don't use the foam , it's far to soft for a sport bike.
