I am a rookie planning my first long ride to Goa from Mumbai. How the condition of the Mumbai Goa NH66 highway. Many have advised me against taking that road but I understand the route is more scenic than the Kolhapur highway. I wanted some recommendations from the experienced people in the forum.

While I wouldn’t call myself an experienced forum member or a rider (given that I’m getting back to riding seriously after quite some time), I have driven down to Goa consistently for almost three years now, at bi-monthly intervals.
I would strongly recommend against taking the NH66 (Old Mumbai-Goa Highway), given its usually pathetic condition. The route via Pune is well paved and decently scenic. I’d suggest you go down that road.
