  • Gixxer 250 rough cruising.

    Hello everyone,
i recently bought second hand gixxer 250 naked, 800km ran, feb 2020 registration. I just came to know that cruising at constant rpm in 3k to 4.5k band bike engine starts running a bit rough like petrol is not supplied at constant rate, cutting off and on also minor bit fluctuations in power. Engine always want you to accelerate to run in smooth ride. Does anybody else also face the same problem. Kindly help.

Hi I own Gixxer SF 250, it seems to me that 3.5k to 4k is too low rpm for this engine. Do not shift so early.

The engine is very tractable, weird that you say its too low rpm for it.

Was this a showroom/ test ride bike? Do you know if the bike was ridden rough before you bought it? Has 1st service been completed?

I am also considering a used gixxer 250. Main attractions are suzuki engine smoothness and power.
the only thing is that i am not very fond of that kinda seating ergo as i have been spoilt by avenger's seating and riding stance.
Do you think gixxer would be manageable for long rides (e.g. 600 kms/day)? Also, any ideas about pillion comfort? the pillion seat does look small.

btw, i am have already booked a meteor for 10k (non-refundable) and the waiting period is 3 more months at the least. Currently I dont own the bike and in that hunger for a bike in hand I am just browsing olx again and again
I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

Hi Ppl, I have purchased sf 250 with 3k kilometers on the odo in second hand market (Bangalore). I am not sure about the service history. The issue I am facing is between 3k-5k rpm around the speeds of 40-60 there is a vibration under the foot pegs, feels like something is rubbing below the foot peg & slight tingle below the seat, it happens only between these rpm's till 5th gear.

I did not notice this during the test drive. After getting the bike i took it to the showroom the chief mechanic said bike is in good condition and he suggested me to install center stand & bash plate (Under catalytic converter), which I did, it costed around 2k for both.

Just to be sure I have replaced the engine oil with Shell advanced 10W40, poured in 1200ml, replaced the oil filter as well. After which the engine felt bit smooth compared to earlier. The vibration between 3-5k rpm reduced a little however the issue still persists.

Could it be because of the newly installed parts or is it something to do with the engine?
I read it somewhere that if it happens only in particular rpm it is to do with resonance. Not sure if it is true.
Suzuki recalled for excessive vibration for the bikes manufactured in between August 2019and March 2021. This bike was manufactured in May 2019.
Has anyone experienced the same, please let me know the solution for this.

I'm riding gixxer 250 since Aug 2019 and done many long tours.

                1. Seating ergonomics is truly uncomfortable. It is a bit wide near the thighs, which anyone below 5'6 and healthy will find it uncomfortable. The seat also pushes you to the front. I had to always be cautious about my groin during the ride and yet I find them resting on the tank after some time.

                2. On long rides, I cannot ride without a break for every 100 kms covered due to butt ache. I think that's because I'm just 5'4 and a bit plump. On the other hand, I was able to make 390 kms in a Dominar 400 with just one break and without any pain.

                3. The issue of engine struggle in low speeds (as if the petrol is not flowing properly), which I had for a couple of weeks, has been fixed yesterday. During this issue period, There was a "Fi" error displayed, which also disabled both the buttons on the display console. I took it to service center and they fixed it. This is what they said about the fix..."Everything is fine, including fuel pump. Its just the ECU/CPU got confused. So we did a reset." That's it! Hardly took a minute and it was free. Now I don't have that engine struggling for fuel feel.

The solution is to ask for opinion from another service center. Sometimes a good local mechanic or a multispecialty bike servicing companies will find and fix the issue.
