  • Bullet 350 1977 Difficulties with pickup and climbing

    Hi everyone,
I'm posting this after being frustrated trying to find what might be wrong with my newly bought Bullet 350 1977. The problem I was facing was gear slipping and difficulties with climbing. I initially thought that it would be gone after getting the gearbox and clutch plates fixed. So most of the gears, layshaft, main shaft and clutch plates including the clutch mounting was replaced and I test ride it again. It rides smoothly and less engine overheats now, but as was before the initial pickup is less and when I try to climb up on flyovers, I can feel the engine under stress and even my other bullet 1999 (lighter crank) can climb easily.

So trying to figure out the problem, I checked the compression, which seems fine (kick difficult to move on compression stroke), changed the spark plug, adjusted point gap, and timing checked the air filter, checked the carburetor and head for any leakage. But there is nothing else I can find out. Now the only thing that I can think might be wrong could be the clutch plates which my mechanic said is 3 plate assembly, while someone told me that replacing it with 4 plate assembly could fix the problem, my mechanic said that this wouldn't make much of a difference, so I would like to know whether or not it will be doing any good if I get the clutch plate assembly replaced with 4 plates? Anyone here has faced a similar issue? Please help
