Engine rattling on Duke 200
The tinny sound started after I filled petrol. It feels like something went inside the engine and is rattling about. The mechanic said the engine needs to be bored, but he didn't have parts then so its just been as is. Any help would be appreciated.https://v.redd.it/csug813q8ub61 A small clip of the issue posted here.https://v.redd.it/csug813q8ub61 -
Dismantle engine, find exact reason, don't just jump to conclusion. Problem might be due to bad timing setting, bend valves. How much is the odometer reading?Originally posted by Nikhil Nadiger View PostThe tinny sound started after I filled petrol. It feels like something went inside the engine and is rattling about. I'm no expert, but it seems to me that it can't be related to valves. In the video, the rattling noise doesn't increase as per the rpm when he revs the engine, it doesn't increase as much. IF the sound was due to bent valves or high valve clearance (tappet) then it should have increased proportionally with the rpm's, right?Originally posted by Vishal Wagh View Post

My guess would be 1) timing chain, OR 2) something rubbing against stator coil.
In any case, it doesn't sound like a serious problem, his mechanic is a FRAUD asking to bore the engine (cylinder) without any reason! This problem is a minor one which can be diagnosed easily by an expert mechanic.
