Hello everyone,
I own a Jawa 42 BS6 and it's 11 months old. Recently I saw that engine oil is depleting very quickly.
I got it serviced last time on the 25th of Jan and it ran 2,700 kms before I came to know about the issue in April. I check the engine oil once every 15 days and it was there when I checked it last time. Now in April, I saw that bike is heating quickly, I stopped the bike checked the oil level and to my shock, I couldn't see the oil level through the glass indicator.
I quickly walked the bike home, put it on the centre stand waited for 1/2 hour, still the oil level was not to be seen in the glass see-through. I started the bike on idle and saw one-two oil drops spilling on the glass see-through. I kept my bike unused for a month and few days as it was the lockdown period. I couldn't see any leaks, no oil burn smell, no white/black smoke while revving. But the exhaust tip has excess dry carbon I think. I put my finger inside the exhaust and it sticks quite a quantity of carbon powder.
After the lockdown, I went to the service centre with Jawa RSA and told them about the problem, they couldn't find any leak and drained the oil. approx 250-300 ml oil came out. What damages this much low oil could have done to my bike? They refilled the oil and told my come back after 20-30 days to see if oil levels drop again. I used the bike for a month around 1000-1200 kms and checked on the level regularly. I saw that the oil level which was at the maximum mark is dripping down, now today it's on the minimum level.
Clearly, the oil level doesn't go this low so quickly. My bike is new with a total odo of 8300 kms. I can't see any power loss, it's running fine. What could be the problem? I will go to the service centre tomorrow but I feel they will make some excuse and try to rip off me.
So what could be the reason for oil depletion this quick?
No white/black smoke, no leakage we could find. But there is excess carbon on the tip I think.
Is the piston leaking oil to the chamber? If yes then the engine reopen this quick is bad right? If piston rings are replaced will my bike perform like stock? I am aware of the old saying that once the engine opens it's not the same anymore. It's just sad to see that earning/saving so much, investing in my bike, taking care of it and a major issue like this comes so quickly.
Thanks for your time, just wanted to know if anyone faced this or what might be causing it?
