  • strange issue in Bajaj Avenger 220

I have a bajaj avenger 220cc bike around 3 yr old. After recent service, a strange issue is noticed. Every day after starting, during 2nd to 3rd gear change, bike switches off. then if i put choke and start, it will start and whole day this phenomenon happens randomly. However if it is started and left idling, 3 hours it wont switch off. Anyone faces issues, pl suggest a remedy for this

Reproducible, every time? Also with other Avenger 220 bikes, eg at the dealer?
Only while shifting 2->3 or in other gears too or 3->2 too? Also with the bike sitting on the center stand?
My idea is that somehow the side stand safety switch may be triggered.
      1) Mechanically by your boots? On the center stand you can shift gears by hand, carefully not touching the side stand.
      2) Electronically? Many bikes can be started with side stand down, if they are (still) in neutral. But every shifting out of neutral will cut fuel injection off.

Unfortunately there are no Bajaj in Germany, I can only guess about the bike.
Is there some electronics involved in switching gears? Double clutch, automatic shifting, and if its only an electronic gear indicator in the dashboard ..?
If not, it must be an mechanical issue. And the ignition is usually far away from the gearbox. So I still suspect the side stand switch.
Have you tried to temporarily bridge the side stand switch (or just firmly taped the side stand to the frame)?

You must be able to identify the side stand switch from the outside. Just firmly attaching this switch (without disabling it) might do the trick.
