  • K&N Filter for Bullet Electra 5S

    Hi,

I want to fit K&N filter for my bullet electra 5S, which is the right model which I should get?

Can you please give me the model no of K&N filter?

Also, what is the increase in performance
    - power?
    - mileage?

    thanks and regards

You can use the Universal filter Kn rc-1060. However dont expect any significant changes in power other than the intake roar. The filter will probably make your bike run lean and will help it rev better( which on a bull doesnt make much sense!).

If your bullet runs lean, it will overheat and overheating is not good(potential engine seizing factor) for your bullet. Along with the K&N, I suggest you upjet your carb with larger size main and pilot jets.

If you plonk in a grilled goldstar silencer, you will get a meatier thump. I am not suggesting a free flow goldie as it will wake your neighborhood up every night With these two changes, you are vastly improving the breathing of your bullet. So you can expect a 25% power increase in your RWHP from about 12-13 to 15-16 hp with nice grunt that'll make you grin each time you twist the throttle.

Hi, Many thanks for guiding me. Will up jetting both the main and pilot jets cause a reduction in mileage? Also, what is the size of jets I should go for or what make / no. would you suggest? thanks and regards

Yes, you should get a 25% increase in RWHP by imrpoving the breathing. There are dyno charts to back this data. here you go boys. Engine modifications and resulting improvements..... . From what I have gathered from RE forums, the Bullet has crappy breathing as the OE air filter and silencer are very restrictive. By remedying this, power should naturally increase. Won't it?

I would appreciate if you could do a dyno run of such a bike and post results here

Yeah, I will try to do that once I get my LB500 and eventually make these mods. Till then, you'll have to go by Hitchcock's data. IMHO, they are pretty reliable. Meanwhile, are motorcycle dynos available down south, except of course at factories like TVS and Royal Enfield? Any pointers to this would be highly appreciated.

                      Hey

Was wondering if there is an OEM replacement filter for the bullet. So we dont have to make it look tacky when we pimp it up.

I knw there is one but its nt available.

                      any help?

                        Jokerman,

You can shoehorn the K&N universal filter into the airbox of the stock bullet. It has been done with pretty good results. Here is the link. K&N Filter in Stock Airbox with No Sawing Required.
But from what I've heard, RDD filters filter better than K&N especially in dusty Indian conditions. But, I don't know if Ron sells RDD filters for the bullet. I'l ask people at RDD and get back. If torqu3e is around, he'll chip in.

actually i have4 personally seen a lot of change in the behaviour of the bike by adding a goldie and running the bike without a filter but again i dont think that it would be 25 %. and PRAKAHR would know what filter goes into the OEM place of the Electra he helped a Guy from America buy it.

                            Amber Bhai,

I quoted the 25% power increase figure from the dyno charts of Hitchcock motorcycles. They actually claim 33% with a bigger carb. And they have dyno tests to prove their figures. Most forumers at Enfield Motorcycles/Bulletech(yahoo groups) also seem to agree with this figure. You can't argue too much with a dyno chart from a reputed tuner, can you? that said, we need to put a bull on the dyno and see for ourselves.
