  • Engine Heating - Frequent Oil Changes

My Karizma is about 6 years old and run 24000 Kms. Over the last few months I have noticed that the bike heats up quickly, say after riding 15 - 20 kms (city riding conditions). To solve the problem I changed the engine oil every 700 - 900 kms and the bike runs much better and the clutch is smoother.

Would anyone be able to advise me as to how I can eliminate this problem of excessive engine heating without resorting to such frequent oil changes. I understand an oil change is to be done after 2000 - 2500 kms.

Maybe your bike is running too lean. Tuning the carb would help!
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Ya, check your carb tuning and also your valve clearences. Also check your air filter. 700 km is too early for an oil change. Hope you are not using a thicker oil or counterfeit oil. Use only 20w40 (assuming its not 10w30 since its a 6 year old Karizma). Dont let them (service centre) use "loose" oil.
