    Smoke from surface of exhaust???

    I was ripping my CBZ this morning at 6-8k RPM for about 10 mins. When I came home and parked the bike, smoke seemed to be coming out from the surface of the exhaust, where the rear footrest is placed. I inspected closely and saw shadows of the smoke near the area. Also smelling funny. I kept a towel on the surface just to verify.

    Is it normal, or does it indicate any problems with the bike's exhaust? At very high revs, the exhaust emitted a shrill sound too.

      Most modern 150CC and above bike's exhausts are equipped with a catalyst converter . If water went inside the exhausts this may happen..Its always better to check the status of catalyst converter with HH Service center

        Water inside the exhaust system will not appear as steam on the surface, like hes describing!

        Are you sure nothing was spilt on the surface of your exhaust before you started riding you bike? Does the surface where the smoke seems to be emanating look any different?

        You need to get it looked into. Never saw any smoke emanating like that from my bike... nor shold the exhaust note sound too different at high revs.

          @sree: will do that on my next visit

          @racoon: the surface is covered with a metal plate, so no idea buddy... same goes for anything spilled on it. the loose plate may be causing the sound, but again, gotta confirm with the mechs. the smell i presumed initially to be the new clutch lining settling in, but now i guess maybe not.

            Just a thought - hope your petrol isn't adulterated too much...

            Don't count to much on the service centre... most likely they will dismiss the problem after a cursory glance.

                when did u change the clutch plates?I presume while removing the crank case cover some of the oil might have spilled over the silencer pipe.Or check the crank case for engine oil leakage caused due to improper gasket seating.
