So I want to get a bigger 9A battery instead of my current 2.5A battery. Now my doubt is that the pulsar classic came with an optional self start. Hence I do have a bracket to install the 9A battery. But would the battery charging system support it? Asked a few mechanics, they said that the battery will charge, but a Bajaj service center guy told me that the charging system on the self start and kick-start version are different so I'll have to change the whole charging system of my bike if I want to install a 9A battery. I want to know that if I will have to change the whole system, and if yes then please suggest a good mechanic in Mumbai or Pune. Approximate cost of mod would be helpful.

getting a bigger battery for pulsar classic kickstart
I own a pulsar 150 classic. Recently I got 2 auxiliary lights installed on the leg guards for travelling at night. Now I get superb illumination but it is draining my battery. If I use the light for more than 15 min, the horn stops working. Then I have to switch off the auxiliary lights for some time and let the battery charge.
So I want to get a bigger 9A battery instead of my current 2.5A battery. Now my doubt is that the pulsar classic came with an optional self start. Hence I do have a bracket to install the 9A battery. My opinion is that yes... You'll probably have to change the electricals to support 9A... Future fusing, burning etc will be a risk you'll face if electrical charge isn't properly equated to its transmission capacities. But since your bike comes in two options, one of them being 9A, you should be able to get it changed pretty easily from the authorised service center itself. Electro heads... Correct me if I'm wrong.

Cleaner:No the RR are not same.If the RR's were same the 2.5A battery will be charging very soon and will result to over charging.
@deadboner:You will just have to change or modify the Rectifier(The unit responsible for charging the battery). As the mechanic if the sockets of both the RR are same.If yes,you can directly do a plug and play work. Before you do so check if the fuse box if the fuse is perfect. There are many mechanic who wound wires over the fuses when the fuses go off.If you fuse goes of sooner to your journey then you will definitely have to upgrade the wiring.I have no idea about the stator sorry
