    cbz exteme throttle response problem, 48k no overhauling done

    well i have been a proud owner of CBZ extreme since 2007

    have been regularly getting my bike serviced from the ASC and have been draining their crap engine oil (after 800 to 1000 km) n swapping mostly with shell AX7 10w40

    my bike's been quite satisfying till 36- 37K yes there was that annoying tappet noise (which i have come to know as the tappets are marginally loose)

    now for the past 500 km or so(my bike's currently at 48k) the throttle response has been giving some problems

    the problem is that when i twist the throttle the engine responds after a time lag like there's a void and then there's the response

    also theres been a clitter of nut from the bike at around 4- 5K rpm mark

    those efffin ASC mechanics haven't been doing a thing and i wish to service and rectify these problems on my own or only from a reliable mechanic

      Please elaborate your problem a little more so that we can understand it clearly, you mean to say if you try to accelerate the bike, the bike accelarates too slowly compared to stock. . . If yes then see if you are having these problems,
      1. The throttle response is very less. . .
      2. The top end has been reduced. . .

      If you find both the above problems then it should be a problem with the diaphragm, get it changed and also after that check with your spark plugs if they are good and also the filter. . . I think that should solve your problem. . .

        can be multiple reasons...

        at 40k - 50k.


        spark plug, carb settings, jets choked.. check for any oil leakage/smoke.. , air filter.. these are the basic reasons for the issue mentioned.

        as stated above if you provide more detailed info the problem can be identified precisely...

        major reason for laggy response are afr ( air fuel ratio ) aka improper tuning, short spark plug , air filter..

          there isn't any oil leakage or smoke the carb and the spark plug are stock also the air filter is clean i'll check the spark condition and get back ASAP

          like i have said the throttle response is suffering a time lag but after that lag its behaving normal and the top end is unaffected, will check the spark plug

            stock spark plug will last anywhere between 30-40k.. after that it is suggested to change..

            well the mentioned case looks like more of tuning issue.. lag is due to wrongly set AFR or as mentioned carb cleaning..

            any stalling/misfire ??

            any change in FE ??

              the FE is 37 kmplhas been low for much time when many claim that it's hovering around 50 for there xtremes although my bike also used to return 50 until 38K and has been on the down since then

              the engine isn't stalling also take a look at the sparkplug ( looks like it surely does need replacement)

              there's oil on the threads WHY ? is this a problem ?

              the tip is greyish colour without any soot that means good AFR right !(do correct me if i am wrong)

                PLease change the spark plug and air filter at specified intervals. Air filter should be replaced every 10k and spark plugs every 12-14k kms. Keep the old one as spare.
                Aslo, get your carb cleaned and diaphragm checked for bursts/leakage. What is the condition of your tires?

                  Oil on spark plug tread is due to leaking valve cover, replace gasket and I recommend a carb overhaul. Also your bike seems to be on the richer side, hence the low FE. Can't see the pictures clearly but I think it's slightly on richer side.

                    well the air filter is always changed after 7-8 K but the spark plug looks like it hasn't been touched please have alook at the pic and advice on it

                    also do all bikes require bore kit replacement after 40-50K kms ?

                    what spark plug would you suggest as a replacement


                    can anyone tell if there is an oil filter in cbz extreme(must be ) i ask such aquestion coz i asked the ASC guys to replace the oil filter and they laughed me off saying that the bike doesn't have one and that it does not reqire replacement

                      from the pic.. the AFR seems to be on the richer side.. get the tuning done.. and all the measures that other riders have mentioned.. get the plug changed asap..
                      get the plug from SVC or you can try NGK plugs..
                      as for the oil filter, every bike has one.. and it needs to be replaced with every oil change.. and CBZ isn't that old.. it would surely have one.. (i don't know where)

                        bro the the spark plug tip is grey and has no soot on it and as suggested by many on the forum that this indicates the right AFR

                        the dark colour of the spark is (as i think) due to its age as it hasn't been replaced even once in the 48 k
                        regarding the carb overhaul you are suggesting cleanup or proper jet replacement and needle check/replace thing

                        for the gasket replacement can you please elaborate on how and where on the bike the gasket needs to be replaced

                        also read about same problem on pulsar 150 thread                         (the guy had same problem ) and another member named [MENTION=53807]paul.1911[/MENTION] said that the valve seals need to be replaced are you both talking about the same thing
