  • P180 DTS-i UGIII Mileage issues

    Hey people.
I have a p180UGIII. It has clocked 2025kms. Till now I have been a mileage of below 35. The showroom guy had told me that the mileage of a p180 is around 40 to 45. I know 45 is a bit too much for a p180 but 40 is pretty much believable. But i am not even getting 40. I've get all the servicing done on time. But still no change. Also the manual says the tank capacity 15 litres.and something about reserve capacity and useable reserve.I didnt get what the useable reserve is. When my bike goes into reserve, how much fuel is left in the tank??

Maybe it is not tuned properly or can be related to your driving style. Try riding for fews days sedately say max speed upto 60kmph and not ripping it and then check the mileage. Also 2000kms is still to early for getting the best mileage. Also when bike goes into reserve you have 3litres still in the tank out of which only 2.5litres can be used. Half a litre always stays unused.

So does that mean half a litre is stuck in the tank and that the tank can never become dry? Let me try out that sedate riding thing. When is the best mileage achieved?

I thought the UG3 had a reserve load of 2.5 L out of which .5 is unused and 2 is the reserve petrol we can use? Correct me if I'm wrong. Also, as rakowli said, try to ride easy. Shift below 4k rpm in each gear and no sudden surges of power also. See what kind of mileage you get after this.

It should be given in the manual book about how much is the reserve for P180UG3. I have p150UG3 which has same 15Litres tank and reserve of 3lts usable upto 2.5lts. You can use the remaining 0.5litre also by bending the bike and bringing the petrol from RHS tank to LHS tank where the fuel nob is there. I know this because my friend had done it 2 to 3 times in front of me. I normally dont keep it in reserve.
Also your bike is still in Run-in period as per my knowledge, still wait for another 1000km for your bike to become free. Also don't rip it hard a small burst here and there is ok. My bike is 5yrs old still i am getting 50kmpl and no engine problems till now.

                  My experience with the bike.
I have this beast(P180 UGIII) from 2yrs now.
In the beginning used to get 45 kmpl. Now i get a mileage of 50 in city and 55+ on highway.

Drive at a speed of 35 to 50 in city.
                  Two-lane blacktop isn't a highway - it's an attitude.

                    GOT 40.

I tried riding at a constant speed of around 50km/hr. Got a mileage of 40. Also got servicing done from Bajaj guys. Now it returned a mileage of around 41.

                    Thanx guys for your opinions.
