  • Help needed for Scooty Streak Engine Oil Change

    Hi Guys,

This question is for my little sister's Streak. Usually we give it up in service centre and change engine oil during the service. But am having doubts on whether they change it to new oil or use some old used oils. So was planning to do it on my own.

But i have no idea whats the grade of oil for a Streak (first of all is there any grade of oil concept in scooties? ).

Any help or link to a help forum would be helpful.

    Thanks
You're the guy who'll be sneaking out of your bedroom at three o'clock in the morning to look at your bike.

Grade I also don't know exactly but if you go to a lube shop, you can ask the shop wala to give you a scooter oil, there's almost scooter oil in all the brands. . . Try out Castrol oil, I earlier was using the same on my Scooty Pep and it was quite good for that. . . Or else try out if shell as well. . . It'll be costing you lesser than the bike's oil, guess it's 900ml if am not wrong. . .

About the oil change, you either can do yourself if you have the correct set of tools or take it to a nearby mechanic who can do it for you or if you take a shell oil, they'll change it in their shell fuel station for you for free of cost (that's where I change my oil ). . .

      Cheers!!!

Thanks Man !!! So, Shell it is.
I regularly fill-up petrol in Shell only. But never have tried their oil, since i have been using Motul in my NS.

Motul haven't given a try but majority of the people recommend that. . . Other than Motul, Shell is also a best product and it comes in a lesser price tag as compared to Motul, . . So, the next time you want to try, just give it a go and if am not wrong in all the Shell fuel stations they offer free oil check and oil change, so you can purchase from them and get it changed by them itself. . . Make sure you stay there and ask them to leave the bike after the old oil's drained for some 5-10 minutes or so, so that all the old oil is cleared and then ask them to fill the new oil. . . Check the oil for your NS too, look at the grade, ask others who are using Shell for their NS and give it a try once for your NS too, you'll be with that's performance too . . .

            Hi
I too hav a Scooty pep , march 2004 , for my wife, She only knows the riding part , maintenance other things I take care of , For Oil leakage i had too had faced, Check Oil seal / o ring in Oil drain bolt,The Drain bolt can be unscrewed using a 10 mm Allen key , Engine oil required is 750ml in Engine & 100 ml in Gear box.,the oil grade is 20W40.
I have used BP's MAK 4T ,The performance is Good , Motul will be better used in my GLADI , Check the oil by removing oil level dip stick for Engine & gear box.

There is no oil leakage as such in her bike man. Its jus periodic change of engine oil. Thats y wanted to know wht all things should he changed along with it (any oil filter / o ring) and if possible a lil DIY (as i dont now where the drain bolt is located in that streak )
And the problem is i can find a lot of DIY's for our bikes. But none for a scooty kinda bike.

Sure will try Shell in the next oil change or the after that. Since i have a Motul bottle stocked in my home (NS oil capacity is 1.2L, so had to purchase 2 1L bottles)

Sure good luck , hope you find a similar feel with that as well. . .

PS: Please stop the slang/message languages (y, lil, wht) as it's banned in Xbhp to use them, please make a clear word as many don't understand these words and some often get irritated, so full sentence would be good. . . Help us make the site better . . .

Re: Help needed for Scooty Streak Engine Oil Change

For Engine oil 750 ml change use 10 mm size allen,The Engine oil drain bolt is located down side behind the main stand,The drain bolt is not the regular bolt is is aluminium casting pc, For gear box oil change use 10 No spanner to remove drain bolt located on lh side on belt cover , 100 ml capacity.
No idea of Oil filter , probably there would be a ss wire mesh filter screen o filter oil in the engine,Do clean & lubricate the Air filter foam for better fuel efficiency & pickup , my scooty pep 9 years old gives 50-55 kmpl.

Re: Help needed for Scooty Streak Engine Oil Change

The amount of engine oil that should be used on Scooty Streak is 750ml, the recommended oil is TVS TRU 4 as per the manual, but if you are planning to get oil manufactured by others, the grade is SL 20W-40 JASO MA 2 AFAIK. The drain bolt is located behind the center stand and it is a Allen (hex) bolt of 10mm size, so you'll need a 10mm Allen socket or a key.

Don't forget the gear oil too, I forgot the correct interval to change gear oil but to be on the safe side, it's better to change gear oil every time you change engine oil. The gear oil is same as the engine oil for Scooty Streak. Use a 10mm socket to remove the gear oil drain bolt. The gear oil capacity is 100ml, do clean up the air filter often to ensure good FE and engine life.
                    I am back!

Engine oil grade is 10w30 semi synthetic. Please do not mislead people if you do not know.

It's just written on the bottle, the pictures on the owners manual for illustration purpose only AFAIK. What's written on pictures does not mean much. I'd like it if somewhere in the manual it's explicitly stated that only 10w30 grade of oil should be used.

Please don't think of me as a devils advocate, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this.
