• planning to reuse an abandonded pulsar

Hi friends,
I'm borrowing a 2007 make 150c pulsar from my friend. It wasn't moved or used since 6 months. I'm planning to get it repaired and use it for a month or two.

The last time we tried to start it was about two months ago and the bike refued to turn on. The kick rod was kind of flying free, we felt the coupling with the crank was lost.
What could be the possible problems the bike might have developed in meantime?
What amount could be preferably spent on it as I'll be returning it back soon (I'll be using it for max 2 months)?

Edit: the problem is, the self starter motor is revving itself but not the engine. Just got to know

Query Approved

Check the kicker return spring, and also check as the reductions won't be the culprit, it's the spring that's the culprit most of the times.

Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Thanks B7ACKTHORN..

Pulsar owners, can you tell me how much it would cost me for a regular service?

A general servicing would do or do I have to ask for anything specific to be checked?

450 to 500 Rs for general servicing. That should include washing your bike too. And the amount varies from SC to SC. Anyways you can get it done from any local mech also if any 1 is known to you.

Try kicking the engine over a few times with the ignition switched off to free things up and get some oil circulating before trying to start again, by kicking (preferably). Six months isn't that long, the bike will probably start.

Pull in the clutch and kick the engine a couple of times. Clean spark plug, fuel tank, air filter, chain sprocket, regrease wheel bearings change engine oil. If the motor is running but not turning the engine, the one way clutch is the problem I think. Also check tires and brake fluid.
I am back!

It was battery problem got the servicing done. He charged me 700 for oil change and servicing, changed the oil lock and installed normal one as my friend lost the key

Not at all possible bro! 250 would be what the engine oil would cost at a minimum!

Re: planning to reuse an abandonded pulsar

Guys I just noticed that the bike is going out of engine oil.. Din check it when I took delivery from servicing and I don't think they din fill the oil.

I've checked a week ago, it was below 1/2 and now it's almost at minimum.

I din notice any smoke or smell from bike till 5600rpm. So don't think it would be a bore problem

the gear shifts have become harder, is it related to engine oil problem?

If smoke comes only @ high RPMs then valve stem seal may be the culprit....
