  • Pulsar 220 Piston Query

My Pulsar 220 DTS-I is about to undergo a bore replacement. As always, the modding bug bit me to squeeze a little out of the stock setup so went in search of aftermarket pistons and stumbled upon this.

    AKUNAR PRO-X PISTONS
    AKUNAR PRO PISTONS
    AKUNAR PRO-R PISTONS

Since the stock bore dia is 67mm, which size of piston should I opt for. Also the deck size and wrist pin size parameters are also given in their listing but I am unaware of both the details.

And if any one from Chennai can guide me to a good machinist where I can get a good pocket porting job done will be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance for the help.

See the dia of the piston can be changed but at the cost of losing reliability.
You would be slicing down the sleeve to fit in a bigger piston.
When the engine heats up, the block expands, expansion and contraction takes place numerous times in a day.
The OEM thickness of the bore is such thay it can handle this process and give a good reliability and better life.
I have tried everything on my p220 to make it more powerful, bit in the end, the reliability is kept at stake.
Best would be, get a headwork done, use a freeflow exhaust, upjet your carb, use Iridium spark plugs and a good air filter.
All these would give you a good bump in your power and your reliability will be like the stock 220.
Performance filter may allow dust inside because none of them are designed for Indian weather conditions. Use foam filter if possible, like Pipercross and BMC, they will give u better but lesser performance than the conical ones but will keep your bike away from inhaling dirt.
Hope this info is adequate enough.
