    Need Help On Pulsar 180 ug4 console going blank

    Hi All,

    I have pulsar 180 cc UG4 from 2010 and today suddenly the console was blank.Refused to start in any condition.
    Pushed it to a store he said fuse it gone tried changing the fuse didn't worked.Then he changed the battery ..Still didn't worked.

    Finally he connected directly the fuse wire by making a cut in between.He was telling the wiring has problem.
    Please let me know will direct connection without fuse will effect?And what the problem can be before I hand over to my mechanic..
    Really worried for my bike!!!

        Hi,

        I have a P220 and am facing the exact same issue. I changed my battery last month to Amaron and after about 1 week, the bike failed to start and the speedo went blank. Took it to nearest Bajaj and found it was a fuse issue and solved the problem. The bike was fine for 1 month. A couple of days back the same thing happened when I parked the bike in office. I changed the fuse myself but the issue is persistent ever since. The bike is lying idle now. Tried jumpstarting today but it goes off once throttle is released. Also tried changing the fuse again and again.

        I have HID installed and no other mods. Is it possible that the wiring may have gone kaput? If yes, what could be the estimated damage to the pocket?

        Expert opinions will be highly appreciated.

          Hello, I have an update on the above post.

          I gave my bike for service and had the issue checked. There was a wire which had lost some insulation revealing the inner copper wire. The socket holding this wire was connected to the key unit and was linked to the entire bike's voltage supply when the ignition was turned on.

          Bike is performing well and no sudden conking off issue has been noticed so far.

          This unit costed around Rs 300

            Fuse going often indicates there is some short circuit in the bike's wiring somewhere. sometimes it is a hard problem to diagnose. Glad that your issue was solved.

              Probably ballast of HID isn't doing good work to overcome reactance.
              If this is truly the case only thing one can do is change the ballast or connect the HID system directly to battery and control it using relays.

                On Pulsar one needs to use capacitors while using HID lighting system as the bike has BCU. BTW his problem was solved. some wire was stripped and was touching the chassis somewhere I think, it will create a short circuit on DC negative ground wiring.

                  I was searching for such a thread. My p180-220's (p180 with 220 fairing,borepiston kit) tacho is behaving odd, it shows wrong values, very high than what actually is. Please share the solution if someone knows, especially [MENTION=25280]lockhrt999[/MENTION]

                    If error is constant then probably bearing are shot.
                    If it's showing random values, then probably there is problem at signal generation.

                    Some says, it can be repaired. If you want to get it replaced it costs ~2200.
