• Black smoke from exhaust and engine oil level drop

Hi Friends,

I recently got the valves changed on my Pulsar 180 Dtsi (43000 Km done on odo)

After a week of the repair i made a trip home ( 200km). While washing my bike i noticed that the mobile oil level had dropped ( no oil visible in window).

I bought mobile oil from a nearby store and topped it up. i had emptied almost 500ml to top up as per the level indicator marker.

After this i started my bike and opened up the throttle..Upon quick twist of the throttle i noticed black smoke from the exhaust, but when i gently did the same there was no black smoke.

Question: What can be the reason for drop in engine oil level and black smoke?

Do it need to replace the piston kit.

Awaiting your inputs.

Drive safe.

Query Approved

Could you have probably overfilled the engine oil in the bike and thus the smoke?
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Bro check the piston ring. It must have gone kaput. Engine oil is getting mixed up and thereby getting burnt.

If engine oil is getting mixed then it will show on the spark plugs? What would be the condition of the spark plugs?

only white smoke indicates engine oil being burnt along wit fuel and air mixture, which is caused by busted rings or piston .but your cause is black smoke so it souldnt be busted rings black smoke indicates some problem in carb if im not wrong, get your carb cleaned and did you check the oil level on a perfect flat floor?

@ Abhiiceman> yes i had checked the oil level on perfect flat floor... had to tilt the bike to right side to check if there was any oil in the engine.

Is there any additive available in the market which will self clean the carb? Suggestions.

Thank u all for ur inputs till now.

you said that the biek was placed on a flat floor yet u had to tilt the bike to check the oil!strange... all the above steps were done wit the bike on the main stand right ?

btw carb cant be self cleaned , mechs will charge about 100 to 200rs for cleaning it and thwy do it with the help of petrol, btw take it to a good mech...

abhiiceman>> Yes the bike was on the middle stand on a flat floor. No mobile oil was visible in the window as mentioned earlier. I did tilt the bike to check if there was any oil in the engine.

Thanks for the link.
