  • [Help] Yamaha Rx 135, replacing oil tubes.

    Hello forum.
this is my first post and my first thread here.

And one thing to know about me, is i like to do things myself

I recently bout a 500ml of Shell VSX 2T oil.
But my bike's oil pump rubber have gone bad leading to oil leakage, in-turn was cutting short the oil supply.

I had bought the replacement rubber tubes for the oil pump. genuine yamaha make and i've decided to replace the tubes myself.

Is there any advice or anything to know if i'm going to replace the tubes myself?

I pretty much have an idea what is to be done. but if an expert here could guide me i would really appreciate the help.

    Regards,
    Uzayr

You must of brought two types of black tubes, one is of a broader diameter and one is of a small diameter, the broader will be attached to the 2t oil tank and then you have to route this tube from below the carburetor and into the right side crank case where your 2t pump is located, smaller diameter is to be attached to the pump and then pulled through a hole in the right side outer cover and then attached to the carburetor.

Thanks a lot kusmaker, i did exactly what you said and i was able to assemble to route the tubes with no mess up

        Also i have another question,
how can i maintain my oil pump? is there a time period as to when i should check it?
i heard there is way to adjust the oil flow, could you tell me how?
        i'm a n00b at this :/

These oil pumps are normally maintenance free, but still you can check them say after every 15 days or so, to adjust the oil flow to your carb is done by either adding of removing the shims to the pump, firstly you have to check that whether the guide pin of the pump is properly aligned with the mark on the adjusting plate with throttle in fully closed position, throttle should not have play, if the guide pin is not aligne then align it by adjusting through adjuster going in or out.

Now to adjust the flow of 2t, remove spark plug, throttle should be fully closed, slowly kick the crank with hand, hold the kick crank at a place where the clearance between adjusting pulley and plate is maximum, measure gap with feeler gauge or if you don't have feeler gauge then a hexa blade will do the job(although not exact but still close), if clearance is not correct then adjust the shim, adding shim will increase the stroke hence the flow of oil to the carb and decreasing shim will do the job vice-versa. I hope i was able to make you understand if you don't get this pls let me know.

i'm lost at the second part sorry,
could you explain it in simpler terms
            i appreciate your help

Hmm you didn't get second part, chalo will try to explain in simpler terms, if you look at your pump you will see a small nut, behind it there is a shim(washer) and a little big plate like washer, behind this plate you will find some gap,you have to measure this gap with feeler gauge, the minimum pump stroke should be 20~25mm, if the clearance is not right add shim(washer), this shims comes in various thickness, you can also adjust the pump by starting the bike and checking the movement of push rod which you will find moving inside and out if the bike is in idle state, pull out the 2t oil feeder pipe going inside the carburetor, as soon as you pull out this pipe you will find that rpm gets increased so block that inlet with your finger or some cloth, now give the throttle a blip and see how fast or slow the 2t flows out from that pipe,(you have to check both speed state of the pump, the idling state and the higher RPM state), if its take some time then you have to increase the stroke of pump or simply the pump should move fast, in this case you have to add a washer of slightly bigger in thickness, to add a washer you have to unscrew that tiny little nut and add a washer and again tighten the nut, after adding shim just check again the stroke of the pump, you can also adjust the pump without starting the bike but this method is more suitable as you will be able to know that how much of oil is going into the carburetor, if your bikes engines AFR is correct and so is the 2t oil, then your spark plug will show you a light to medium tan colour.

Hi kusmaker! it should be 0.20mm~0.25mm. Thanks
