  • Regarding duplicate oem keys

Sometime back i heard that the number written on the keys of the bike can be used to get new keys in case u misplace or loose the key.
I want to know is this a reality or just a fake news as i have lost my Hero Honda Passion's spare key and i dont want to replace the whole lock set or get a duplicate key from the local locksmith.

Please note i still have one key but need both keys as needed by me nd my brother.

    curious to know

Yes you can order a new set of keys from the same dealer where you bought your bike. The dealer will ask for the 4 digit code of the key and your registration of the vehicle, to make sure that the vehicle belongs to you. I am not sure about the amount of money for the new keys but it is definitely cheaper, than replacing the whole lock set. So contact the dealer for more info.

Well, the last I remember, is buying a Hero Honda Pleasure fro my sister in November 2006, and I got the 4 digit code with it.
So these coded keys started roughly 2005 - 2006 or maybe a bit more earlier.

(This info may not be accurate, I'm just letting you guys know the first vehicle I bought with coded keys).

I had lost a key a year back when i was in Jaipur. There were many shops which made exact keys with no difference at all from the original key.
The only requirement they had was the vehicle should be present there. They won't make a key if the vehicle isn't present. They charged rs 150/-

          Ride safe and have fun.

Nope. When the keys are handed over to you at the time of purchase, there is a small metallic piece along with the keys. The 4 digit code is written on that.

Oh shit, yes a small metal piece was there with keys, I didn't know this and misplaced it somewhere...

I think showroom guys must explain this to customers other wise most of the people would misplace it because lack of knowledge.

you have to search for it bro. If you still cant find it, Some dealers keep record of the code, they may or may not have the record, it depends from place to place.
You have to provide your chassis no. or the engine no.(I think). If they keep a record, they'll get your code and you can order new set of keys. if not, they can give you the best advice.
