  • Bajaj Pulsar DTSI 180 UG3 MODS

Hi, I'm Zuhair from Singapore, i would like to know more on modifying Bajaj Pulsar DTSI 180 UG3. Currently my bike's some sort of stock. Things I've change is the rear sprocket to 38, bore once 0.25mm, rear tyre 110. The current top speed is 125km/h at 9000RPM. And is it possible to fit in Honda NSR150SP Carburetor or OKO Racing Carburetor in the P180? And maybe I might change my rear tyre to 120/90x17 or 130/90x17. Will this affect the speed/performance? Help me as in Singapore it's super hard to find mods for P180. Thanks!

Re: Bajaj Pulsar DTSI 180 UG3 MODS

      I have owned a P180 UGIII since December 2006.

Over the years... I've used a 130 section Pirelli SD. It's a direct fit. No mods required.
I did replace the stock chain cover with the one from the Pulsar 200 almost as soon as the Pulsar 220 was launched (which was about a 2 months after i bought my bike)
This was way before i changed from stock tyres to Pirellis.
So I'm guessing you will have to do the same if you want a 130 or 140 SD at the rear. But that's about it.

Grip levels will increase. You'll be happy with the result once you get used what the bike feels like with the new tyre.

Six years on SDs and not once have i felt that i needed more rear grip.

I've also replaced the front tyre with the MRF Zapper C that comes on Yamaha R15s.
It makes the front of the P180 feel quite heavy but it'll feel really planted. Sticks like velcro.
I like braking really hard and late in most situations and the tyre really does makes a difference.
I prefer them to Pirelli SDs at the front. This goes for wet and dry riding conditions.

to upgrade the carb just go above 2mm p180 has 29mm, use 30-31mm or 32 carb

Here's an update, so i changed to the NSR150SP carb for a few months. My fuel consumption drop to roughly 23km/L, top speed was still the same tho, but the pickup was superb, and there were a lot of light smoke coming out from the exhaust. And yesterday i changed it back to stock, thinking of re-jetting the stock carb or maybe changing to UMA Racing carb 32mm or Keihin 32mm or Mikuni 32mm. And my current fuel milage is 33km/L for the stock carb. Any suggestions guys? And can someone past me the link to a thread about the re-jetting of the carb, i couldn't find it. THANKS!
