I guess its because Transferring involves Scrutinizing of the documents by the RTO officials... as 99% of the vehicles imported are brought into india by not paying the proper taxes... So to avoid this problem at that stage..the sellers insist to not to transfer i guess... !!Originally posted by dreamchaser View Posthey guys i am just about to finalise a deal on an 06 R1 for 6.2 lks..its in stock condition..no mods..orginal exhaust n pretty clean....is the price just??and the guy keeps on saying not to register the bike to my name???why is that??he says it will loose its resale value??i am getting it from blor and i live in kerala???so do i need to get an NOC from blor RTO???i plan to use it fosome time n not a few months so should i register i in my name???plz help me out!!!!

If the bike is Karnataka registered and if u want to use it Kerala there are lot of thing which u have to look into.. first off all u tell him to transfer the bike in ur name and for that u need a N.O.C certificate....and need to change it Kerala State passing too..because ur current address will be in Kerala... Getting a N.O.C certicate is good..bcoz u will come to know if there in problems with the documents... But beware of being cheated.. !! Just get some help of an RTO agent of ur knowledge and try to figure out the genuineness of Papers... And finally try to make the payment after the vehicle is transfered to ur name....
All the wishes...!

Well, if he has imported via "Transfer of Residence", then it's legal & go for it!
But if NOT, It's Illegal. When the RTO's transfer the name, they have NOW started asking for the Purchase Invoice (Bill) which you/ that guy won't have, since it's imported via Golmaal

Jokes apart, Can any senior member throw some serious light on this matter?
and dreamchaser, I advise you to go through this thread CARE-FULLY before buying it :->

I think some SBK owners need to throw light on this...there are a lot of threads talking about SBKs. AFAIK, only the TR (Transfer of Residence) route is legal. Was this person who is selling this bike to you staying abroad&brought this bike back with him? Even if he did, he isn't allowed to sell it for 2 years. So, I feel if this guy didn't come back from abroad in 06-07&keep the bike till now, he might have bought an illegal bike, which you wouldn't want to be conned off with! Please read the threads related to SBKs&2nd hand SBKs here&talk to some other SBK owners too. All the best!Originally posted by Richard View Postignoring the paperwork completly...it could be a bargin..Quench my thirst with gasoline!
