Hi,
I have damaged my old speedometer in an accident recently and waiting for about one month got a new one of the recent FZ Ver2 model. The connector which comes from the bike is the same for both the bikes and it fits exactly. All the indications are working perfectly (left and right, engine, high beam, neutral and the fuel indication) but the speedo and odo are not working. The speedo sensor and cables are also fine because i can see the speed in my old broken speedometer.
The new FZ has an ECO mode which is the extra feature in its speedo. I have seen the 16 pin female connecter of the old FZ (from the bike) has two empty pins not used and in the new FZ the gaps have replaced with wires for the eco mode i guess. I will get the pictures and post shortly because i did not have a cam when i went to the service center to see the new FZ connector. When i checked the color coding all the sequence seems to be the same with both the connectors except the gaps which has a green and white wire.
My doubts are
1. If i connect and close both the empty pins will the speedo and odo will work or the speedo will get killed if i do so.
2. What is the proper way to check the odo and speedo without damaging it?
