Been lurking around in the background for a while now and the itch to get me a superbike is intensifying...

I recently came across a CBR400RR Fireblade in a reasonably good condition. I believe its a 1991 model, traditional red, blue and white color scheme. How safe is it to buy a bike thats almost 2 decades old? (I know ...
)I did ride the bike for a while and the engine felt to be in good shape (no untoward sounds while revving etc). And the engine would rev quite rapidly, a small'ish blip would send the tacho racing towards 8K with a wonderful exhaust roar.
There are some plastic (small) parts that are broken off and the fork oil seals are leaking. The bike as such is not for sale but the owner will let go of it if the price is right. That brings me to the second question, what would be a right price? I am guessing around 1.75-2L mark.
In my hurry (and excitement) I could not click any pictures of the bike. Would do that today.
Looking forward to the response from the resident superbiker's.
Cheers,
Hiren
