  • Regarding Bajaj service Centers and the engine oil they provide

    Hi everyone,

Of late I noticed that the Shree Automobiles, Bajaj Authorised service center in Noida, Sector 63 provides Engine Oil using a mug from a steel drum. Kind of like the rations shops used to give kerosene in the early 90s.

I am a Pulsar 200 ns owner and as per manufacturer I should be using DTSi 10000 engine oil.

Now, is this the same across all service centers? I mean how do you know if they are providing the genuine engine oil?

I asked the guy and he said the drum had genuine Bajaj engine oil. In fact he didnt even know what was the genuine brand!!!

So, anyone of you here who gets his Bajaj serviced at Shree Automobiles, Noida, Sector - 63? Please help with your experiences and other Bajaj Service center visited guys also.

This is serious if we are getting some crappy engine oil and paying a genuine price for it.

    Regards,
    Chandrajit

Re: Regarding Bajaj service Centers and the engine oil they provide

    Help Me topic approved.

Anyone from Xbhp can try to verify what is Inside the drum, only if we go there ourselves and check the drum's contents (even then we can't be sure to conclude anything).
We can however outline the general practice we see in other centers.

In my city, let me confirm, till date they sell packed Bajaj 10000 oil, but they do not have a drum of it, so far.

Bajaj may recommend that you get Bajaj 10000 oil and drain it at 10,000 kms interval, but we strongly recommend changing it much before, at 2500 kms at the most. Please ignore Bajaj's recommendation on this matter.

For your specific situation, I strongly suggest you get a invoiced-sealed-verified pack of Castrol/ Motul from the outside market... Keep the same grade, I think it is 20W50 for the P200 NS, if I'm not wrong. Check your manual for it.

And try maintaining the same brand for long term, service after service.

      Ditch that crap.

Are you sure? I mean using Castrol/Motul would have what advantages?

Also, I just registered a complaint with Bajaj describing the situation above.

          Will update what happens next.

It is the same case in bajaj service centre in Chennai as well. They have oil in drums and they fetch oil from the similar cone flask you mentioned.
I own a disc 125 ST. According to the manual it needs 20w50. But when I serviced my bike they had filled with this oil from that drum and billed with 20w40. I went with my manual and asked them to justify, there was no proper reply for this. The service manager sheepishly replied that they fill the same oil for even pulsar 150 and that's what is better for these low cc engines. What a stupid answer is that. And they claim to use that for p150 too. May be for all bikes. Who knows.

I had read about the same case happening and reporting in ownership threads as well. I knew it was useless arguing with them. That was the last time I filled those oil. changed to mogul and its been peace of mind.
