  • Ducati showrooms shutdown in India?

First off, I'm not sure if this query was raised before and if this thread exists but I couldn't help to create this thread for the discussion.

Anyhow, I was planning to go for a test ride (Ducati Monster) this Saturday and when I checked online, there were no dealers listed in our country. Our closest dealer is in Nepal.

What exactly happened to the showrooms and when is it re-opening if ever it is re-opening?

    Query Approved.

In my memory, the last time Ducati was here, it was with Precision Motors. IIRC this Precision motors was headquartered in Bangalore.
Then, there were service related complaints and problems, plus the sales charts were not quite "on fire", which eventually caused them to shut down this arrangement.

Then, the news was that Ducati will come to India by its own. Frankly speaking, I have no info what happened after that.

PS: It is quite possible that I might have missed a news.

Apparently Ducati is all set to enter into India again. They had planned to come in directly by March 2015, but plans have since changed and will be now entering the country with an Indian partner later in 2015.

So, what about the existing bikes running. Will they be serviced under the same person who sold them ?

They are serviced at good FNGs.

This isn't new and is the norm for the past few years.
My reply is only for the regular servicing and stuff. Spares are imported most of the time.

Wow, that's a huge blow to the owners who own them right now. Didn't they close down few years ago and now back again.

To top it all, they shut down exactly when more and more players are emerging with new models in each cc segment.

This doesn't look good for them.

Even I have heard that they will open shop soon, but there is no official communication yet. So best of luck fren. Kpr does service high end bikes in Delhi so my guess is that will still be able to do it.

Got a shock when I rode by the Atria mall at Worli, Mumbai yesterday... The Ducati showroom was stark empty

Hope they return soon...and introduce bikes that are a little more affordable

Re: Ducati showrooms shutdown in India?

Auto-ndtv has mentioned few Ducati bikes release in this year. So I\'m guessing they will be back and not go/exit for the 3rd/4th time.

But, are the Ducati bikes going to come on their own dealership like IKM or through a JV like DSK - Benelli ??
