    Dear comrades,
    Can anyone please tell me what is the max payload for my Yamaha YBX (2008)(125 cc,11 bhp @ 8500 rpm) ? Actually, I want to embark on a 4-5 days' tour covering 700 odd kms with a pillion rider during the Holis. The tyre size of my bike is 2.5-18 (F) 2.75-18 (R). The dry weight is 100 kgs. A hundred odd kms of the tour may be bumpy (forest road). The prescribed tyre pressure is 24 (F)-32 (R) with a pillion.
    Well, will it be ok to undertake the tour with a pillion in terms of handling and stability of the bike ?
    Please illuminate.

      1 quick Q: doesnt YBX have same/similar engine of 135?

        The factory recommended payload for the YBX125 is 130 Kilos. You can tour on it but the YBX in all probability struggle with a pillion. The YBX has a very light front, which goes airborne at the least provocation, for example unintentional wheelies at traffic signals. I advise you not to corner at relatively higher speeds. If you and pillion are lightweights, you wil find touring ok. Anything above 50 KMs at a stretch on the YBX is tiring. So, you will have to take plenty of butt breaks. About the forest trails, you will have plenty of fun with the light, peppy machine if you ride solo.

        The answer is no. The 135 is a two stroke displacing 132cc and the YBX is a four stroke displacing 123.7cc. So, as you can see, they are completely different mills.

              That means, when you pick up/ accelerate in 1st gear and pop the clutch a bit, The front wheel might rise due to the gearing/ torque and the low weight ...

              I wouldn't recommend touring on this vehicle. Somehow, even on the P180, 2 people do make a noticeable difference ...

              If you can get hold of some torquey vehicle like ZMA, P220 or atleast Unicorn, it would be great. Even older CBZ might be better option than YBX...

                Escape, just go ahead and do it. Touring on any bike is possible as long as you keep in mind your and your bike's limitations. Take it easy and you'll be just fine.

                      YES Escape ! Just ride out.

                      I had a Yamaha Gladiator a similar (rather same) 125 cc mill of the YBX. I have toured quite significantly on this bike with a pillion and i think the bike IS capable of doing some considerable work.

                        The biggest advantage the Gladiator enjoys over the YBX125 is the prescence of a fifth cog. This makes the engine unstressed.

                        Yeah, as our xbhpians have said in different posts, just start touring. But, as you guys are overshooting the max payload, watch out for bumps and potholes and set your rear suspension to maximum payload. Take it easy, and you'll make it good. Also, you need to take frequent butt breaks, if not for you, for your bike. Ride at 60 man and enjoy the scenery.

                              There will be an preload adjustment ring at the bottom of your rear shock's spring. IIRC, you have to turn it clockwise to increase preload and anticlockwise to decrease preload. Adjusting position 1 indicates soft and 5 indicates hard. Any mechanic will be able to do this job for you. BTW, make sure that the preload is the same on both the shocks.
