  • Transport motorcycle from India to Germany

I have a R15 v2.0 here in India. I plan to go to Germany, want to transfer my bike along. I know it would be easier to buy a new one there, but I want to take mine along. First love after all

Can any of you shed light on the procedure. DHL outright said No, they can't do it. Any help would be of great help.

    Query Approved

I don't think you will find a lot of people who would have taken their motorcycles from India to another country!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Pls store your vehicle well here in India, but a bigger ride in Germany & enjoy riding; afterall some stretches of Autobahn don't have legal speed limits & even our good Ninja 250R will be into dust bowl on such roads.

It simply is not worth taking the pains clearing customs & paying through CARTEL; it takes about 1.5 Lakhs for the vehicle transportation alone

Well Sir thank you for the suggestion. That's exactly what my "brain" said, but the idiotic chap called the "heart" wants to still hold on to the treasured first motorcycle I bought. I know it would be an hassle and a costly one at that, but in case I become super rich I would want to have her with me, Please let me know how it can be done.

With my limited knowledge on this, your best bet will be is to start from here - ATA Germany | ATA Connections | Trade Facilitation | Products & Services | ICC - International Chamber of Commerce

If you get through your bike to Deutschland, please share us the process. Thanks.

No sane person would take an R15 to Germany.

The shipping charges would be as much as the bike cost, and there you can buy a used bike with a lot more power for a pittance.

Agree to the above comment. Plus the R15 is made to comply with Indian regulations. Not sure it will comply with German standards. You gotta keep your heart aside here. Find yourself a motorcyle when you get there. i am sure you will have helluva options.

You'll also find the one five too slow in Germany, if you have an eu bike licence. The roads are fast there (autobahns) and you can get arrested for going too slow, as it's dangerous.

I understand the sentiment attached with your bike. But you also need to understand emigrating to foreign land happen on few compromises. Parting Bike or car is one among them.

Just have a look what RE have to say for those who want to import indian motorcycles to their country. May be applicable to other motorcycles also.
