  • Air pressure and gear locking in RTR 180

    Hi,

    Greetings for the day.

I newly owned, Apache RTR 180 (2 months before).

I am having some queries about it.

    1. I am using N2 for my tires. Pump station is approximately 3 KMS away from my home.
With in 1 week, after filling air, in both tires I can able to see the 5-6 points decreased. I checked for the puncture, but nothing. I reported service center, and they have my bike for 1 day , and after refilling air, they said that , we cannot see any drop in pressure.
Why there is a drop of 5-6 points in both tires??

2.I have doubt in gear shifting:-
Case 1: While reducing the speed, correspondingly I have to down the gear.
case 2: after full stop I have to.

In case 2, I have, almost all the time, gear lock
In the case 1, sometimes I am having .

So what is the best way to do it?

    3. In cold start,( or very first start in morning) in almost one kick, I can able to start the bike. But after running some kilometers sometimes, I am kicking like anything. Why so?

May I kindly know how to correct these problems.

    Thanks in advance.

    Query Approved!

    1. Check for rim bends or bad valves (entry point for filling in air).
    2. Change gears depending upon the speed. Don't wait for coming to a stop for downshifting from 5th to neutral. Downshift along with the drop in speed.
    3. Usually, the opposite happens with people. So, you want to say; cold starts are fine, warm starts are not?

      Hi Divya Sharan ,

      1. The service people had told that, there is no such issues.
      3. Yes, for me the cold starts are fine and the warm starts are not good. (But why,? The engines were already heated. So it must start at the single kick. Why this is happening?)

May i kindly know, is there any other reasons exists?

      Thanks in advance.

For point number 1, Did you ask the service guys to check after running the bike, May be they would have just filled the air and kept it and checked the air pressure. Ask them to take it for a spin ~5kms and then check the air pressure in the tyres. May be while running, the filling valve comes loose and leaks out air. Just a guess.

Yes. Vapor lock. Next time it happens, open the fuel tank lid for 2 sec and shut it back. Try starting then.

@TS: Why are you kick starting when engine is warm? Why not electric start?
