  • Royal enfield Thunderbird 500. Performance mod Help please !!!

    Hi all.

    I have Thunderbird 500 cc.
I recently bought a Red rooster Performance exhaust (INR 8000/-). The bike really transformed, great bass and beat.
    But there are few misfires.
So i am planning on putting BMC air filter, anyone has tested this combo before ? (RRP and BMC) share your experience please

Also should i change the spark plug too ?
    Please advice

    Thanks in advance !!

    Query Approved.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Why don't you try the powertronic ecu

Well there is no need for changing the sparkplug but if you want you can change it to iridium plugs for more acceleration.

        PowerTRONIC

        Thanks for the reply

But i think powertronic ecu is stopped for enfield models. also there was never a thunderbird version.
Please correct me, im not sure. Even if it is available , can it be used with TBTS 500 ?

Any idea on K&N, BMC air filter ? I believe K&N, BMC air filter adds smoothness and reduces vibration ? is it true?

I heard it affects engine life, is it true ?

        Thanks in advance

Well I don't know about that , but the classic 500 and thunderbird 500 systems are all pretty much the same .
They haven't launched it for thunderbird yet but we can expect in future . well fitting an aftermarket filter is not gonna reduce vibrations or increase the smoothness , but you may feel a slight pick up variation . also you need to do some adjustments after fitting the filter . well its not gonna reduce your engine life but the will be heating issues.

Sorry for dumb questions. I am kinda new here. and i really appreciate your replies.

I have a free flow exhaust installed, is it fine if i leave it without adding a supporting air filter ?
is it true that the ECU auto adjusts based on the input, so there is no need to change anything after installing new silencer or air filter ?

Also, Does changing air filter only comes in to play only in top speed or can be felt in all ranges ?

            thanks in advance

The free flow would be fine with out any aftermarket filter. But if you really wanna add a filter the only two advantages are slight pick increase and engine breathing will be better . Well there is not need for adjustments when fitting a free flow but for the filter minor adjustments need to done . No top speed increase just a slight pick up increase.
I think the K&N and BMC filters can be self service and it would last more than the stock one .
