  • Discover 135 - Engine bore question

    Hi Guys,

I'm a Happy owner of Bajaj Discover 135 Bike, which is an aged but still stylish and sexy ride!! I have done almost 68,000 K on it and recently (a few months) the oil levels dropped half from service to service (2500km - 3000 km).

When I asked the mechanic, he said it was time to rebore and overhaul the engine. So after studying the engine for another service (This time I filled 1300 ml of oil) and still after 1500-2000 Km the engine oil levels dropped half.

I put my bike last friday for the overhaul, and when I visited the garage, he showed me the re-bored engine block, and the original spareparts he has baught for replacement. He said the old bore was 25 and the new bore is 50. is this 25 / 50 is in mm?? or is it a code to recognize piston sizes?

if it's actually a size like cm or mm, increasing the bore to 50 means double fuel consumption? Please advice.

    Query Approved

Aren't spare parts available at the Bajaj SVC? Because knowing Bajaj buying a piston block would be pretty cheap and trouble free in the long run.

This oversizing isn't probably the best idea!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
