  • Vibration in New CBZ-X

    Hi Frenz,

I have purchased a new CBZ-X in Jan'09. I am pretty satisfied with its handling but one small thing disturbs me is that it vibrates after the speed of 40 Sometimes it vibrates more sometimes less. Even after first service the probem is same.

So please help me out. Do I need to take extra care to avotd it because I love it and dont wanna spoil it in any way.

Did these vibes start after the 1st service... or were they existent ever since you took posession of the bike?

Might be worth checking out the tappets. Also, the oil they used might very likely be not the right thing...

        Mail2GSYadav,

As Raccoon has said, maybe your valve clearances are off. Other things worth checking would be the chain tensioner or something as simple as some part being loose in the body parts. For ex, some body panel like the fairing.

The drive chain being loose could also cause vibration/judder, especially under acceleration. Also the vibration you are talking about could be clutch judder due to an improperly adjusted clutch. Is you bike bibrating at particular rpms/speeds?

Also, Please don't panic after hearing so many reasons why a bike could vibrate. As you can see, you need to first isolate the problem by ruling out issue after issue. Usually, in new bikes, the issues are usually due to loose body parts. Also, as you can see, it is extremely difficult to pinpoint a problem online. Take it to the service station and stick around to see what the issue is. Don't worry, you have warranty.

Dude, be very careful with the service guys. If vibes are due to loose fairing, they are quite capable of dismantling your engine and valves and making things much worse! Try and isolate the problem yourself 1st!

But its quite unlikely its due to a loose body part. I believe they usually use torque wrenches at the assembly. Generally what comes out of the assembly line... esp. Hondas, is quite good... until the service guys get their hands on it!

Where is the vibration from? Engine or body?

Vibes from handle and footpegs are natural from CBZX at 60-70kmph...and they dont exist at any other speed.

Vibration is in the whole body It feels like I am sitting in some vibrator. Though it's not too much but When I touch the tank with my legs then vibrations are felt even more.

I asked the service center guyz during my first servicing but they coudn't do anything. Also when I turn off my bike some tickling sound comes from the silencer just like tick tick .... for some 2 minutes and slowly it goes away. When i asked the same to those guyz they told it is because of some metalic joint in silencer. This sound is usual in 4Stroke bikes.

Is it true........ I don't know much of the technicalities as I am very new to bike riding.

                  hi.....

wat is the total mileage on speedo & wat mileage it returns?

i too had the same problem in my uni.......

but the service person wil not be able to help this out............

r u hearing any tappet noise when u accelerate (viciously)

this is due to the tight tappet clearance..........do not speed the bike until 3 rd free service maintain the rpm level below 4000 even in 5 gear which may translate to 45 - 50 kmph. if u don't have proper run-in the problem of vibration will exist.......

so wait till 3rd service or 5000km........

He HE me too has that model it used to vibrate like that keep your RPM below 5K FOR THE 1ST 1500KMS.keep changing ur speed dont drive
@ the same speed.Drain the cow piss they pour in the Service center and change the oil yourself.Remember to change the oil every 500kms(2times only ).
Check the tappet as others have said.make sure they adjust the thing when the bike is cold . What petrol u use for some reason mine doesnt like premium petrols so unleaded all the way.

^^^Hmm... its generally suggested to change change the oil earlier, for the 1st oil change. So changing at the 1st 100 - 200 km 1st time... and thereafter at 500 - 1000 km might be a better option. After this, change as per the normal schedule.

HH also recommends cleaning filter screen and centrifugal filter at the 1st 500 km! But you need to coincide this with an oil change.

I have got my first servicing done and got the oil changed. I have run 700kms. Do I need to wait till 1500kms to go beyond 50 kmph ( even if you say yes I can not avoid to go beyond 50 kmph). So is there any other precaution or way to handle this problem.

1,000 km should be enuf. But the idea is to progressively increase the speed... dont just go all out!
