  • Water In Petrol Tank..What To Do Now !

My scooty was parked out in the open where it rained heavily from past 3 days..
Last night i tried to start it, after 30-40 kicks it started but died as soon as the accelerator was turned..
I suspected water entering the engine through air filter but this is what i found today

    See rust all over [emoji35]

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Call your neighbourhood mechanic and ask him to drain the fuel tank and clean it. At the same time also ask him to clean the carburettor and the spark plug. If possible, replace the fuel filter. Fill in fresh fuel. You should be ok.

Just open the fuel pipe below, open the fuel tap and catch the petrol in a plastic water bottle. Use it for cleaning your engine or other mechanical stuffs.

Take one of those vacuum cleaners and put it in blower mode. Blow the pressurized air into the tank and allow water vapour to come out. Keep your bike in dry place for a day or two and then fill fresh petrol from bunk and carry on riding.

Remember, if you fill your tank with petrol and if it still has "considerable" amount of water it, you will end up with bent piston shaft or engine failure called as Water Lock. No insurance / warranty will cover it. Will cost you heavily.

So, take it easy and allow water to evaporate completely before filling it with fresh fuel.
