    Yamaha szr bike knocking problem

    Hello to all the members. I have 4 year old Yamaha szr ..last few days I am having a knocking problem when bike is over 40 - 50 kmph. In a local garage ,they found the problem with jet nozzle,but original part is not available in Yamaha service as they don't sell loose parts,only complete carbarator. Does any one knows how to clear this problem and approx rate of new carbarator .

      I was facing similar kind of issue, only it knocked between 60-70kmph. Since I get my bike serviced at the authorized SVC, they fixed it and it cost me only 80rs or so for cleaning the carb. You could get a carb cleaner spray to clean the carb and pins but even after that if it jerks, you could source the needed pin from anywhere you can get a mikuni carb. The entire carb costs about Rs.4K, and the jets are actually expensive, like around 300~1000rs.

      Let me know once the issue is resolved and what you did about it.

          There can be another possible reason why engine knocks, if the tappet valve adjustment is not proper, the rocker arm movement may result in improper intake and output which can knock. The manual advised to adjust valve tappet every 12000km or a year. I haven't got that done ever, in your case if its not the carburetor or a clean air filter, please get the valve adjustment checked
