Not sure if your bike has been standing for long without proper use. If that is the case, then one of the solution given by phoren biker is to do tumble cleaning.

This is done by filling the tank with small bolts and nuts along with ball bearing balls (larger than the outlet pipe) in the tank and then wrapping the tank in multiple thick fluffy bath towels. Then place it in a front loading drier or washing machine (without water connection) along with lot of clothes and spin it for a cycle.

The constant tumbling and scrapping of metal pieces inside tank will shave the rust and make it into fine dust.

Clean the tank with a litre of petrol after removing the dust. It should be good enough.

Remember, if the tank's metal cover is weak / thin, it might get damaged by this process. So, be extra careful.

Other than this, there is not much you can do. You can either go for one of those rust remover solutions and do this manually but the solution might corrode the tank even worse.

Take all necessary precautions before proceeding with either method.

Just curious, did you check the petrol quality before filling in or your air filter ? Both are good culprits which can add dust to your carb.
