  • GS150R Missing at 8k, Please Help!

Hello to all from Mexico! (COPIED FROM MAIN GS150R PAGE)
My name is Gilberto and I recently had the chance to buy the wonderful Suzuki GS150r (black), which in my country comes with the sticker reading "GS150r" instead of the nifty "6-Speed" one found on GSs in other places. To make a long story short, I found my black Suzuki to be a great commuter bike in busy Mexico City and the surrounding areas, but there is something bugging me about my GS. Briefly after the break-in period (first Suzuki service done with routine points checked), the bike refused to go beyond 8,000 rpm (I kept the revs low before that, it now has 1,900 Km on the odo) and everytime I tried to push the bike beyond 8k, it would become hesitant, behaving in a jerky fashion, like it was running out of fuel. Happens also in 5th gear. I learned from GS owners that the cause could be either:
    * Wrong type of spark plug (Suzuki CR7HSA with 300 Km now)
    * Dirty air filter (never checked/changed)
    * Front brake caliper needing service (never checked)
    * Spark plug cable giving wrong voltage (never changed)
When I took it to the mechanic, he said the cause was the gas was too lean and he cleaned and adjusted the carb, but that only improved city performance, not highway behavior (8k issue still there). The mechanic also said the engine still needed to be fully broken in, but I have my doubts on that one.
I know this bike has great potential, but this issue has been bugging me for a while now, preventing me from fully enjoying my black beauty.
Thanks to all for reading. I would appreciate any help before facing the mechanic again.
Notes: The bike is now in free mode, and my mechanic said the problem is not ECO/POWER related... Also, the bike was, for the most part, stored by the original owner for about one year before I bought it, with NO MAINTENANCE whatsoever during that period.

      Your carb tuning is incorrect.
