USE of EXIDE BATTERY in HONDA SHINE
My Sister has an unused spare EXIDE battery 12xR5L-B (5AH) for her Yamaha Ray which she got under replacement warranty from EXIDE. As my present Bike batter (Honda Shine) is weak, i would like to know if the same could be used in my bike as the manual mentions Exide ETZ4-12V-3AH..Can 5AH be used instead of 3 AH -

Yes. Absolutely safe. As long as the voltage remains same across the terminals the batteries of any amperage can be used.Originally posted by Naganathan View PostMy Sister has an unused spare EXIDE battery 12xR5L-B (5AH) for her Yamaha Ray which she got under replacement warranty from EXIDE. However, you must note that it will take a very long time to charge the 5AH battery with your present dynamo/inverter on the Shine.
So, Just in case the 5AH battery drains, you will need to ride the bike much longer and for an extended duration to charge the battery. This also means, that once fully charged battery of higher AH, it should also give you more usage time compared to the 3AH. Remember, in cases when the AH is really high the charging will trickle and the battery may not charge with normal rides.Last edited by prajnyan; 09-28-2015, 01:45 PM.There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.
