    The knocking may be a result of improper tuning of the carb. Maybe it is set on the leaner side.
    Knocking may also result due to the fuel not burning inside the combustion chamber (piston reciprocating without combustion thats the reason of that 'knock' sound) which maybe due to the fact that the spark plug is not working properly.
    He may have adjusted the clearance between the two tips of the spark plug, dont know the technical name of that part.

    Experts please correct me if I am wrong.
