  • MT Axiss Helmet Size / Shell size.

Hi everyone, I went to buy a Mt Axiss, in B.P Roadies Kolkata. I faced following problems.🙇

    1. The Size M fits easily, I didn't had to adjust my ears also, just put it in and ears settled automatically, but I looked like an astronaut in the first place cause I'm a bit slim. Cheek pads didn't press my cheeks too tightly, just OK.

    2. Tried the size S , While putting it the Double D rings were hitting my skull, had to stretch the strap outside too hard, also it felt as if it was squeezing my skull while putting it in and my ears got folded. I had to wring/ shake my helmet to bring my ears in normal position. Size S fits a bit tightly, cheek pads squeeze my cheeks up after wearing the helmet.

    3. Can I fit Size M cheek pads in Size S, as shopkeeper said Bigger Size Helmet has narrow cheek pads and vice versa. Also said that pads will loosen up a bit.
I'm worried that a too tight Helmet can cause problems later. I just don't know how much tight is too much tight 😧

    4. Are the Shell Size M and S of same size?? Putting them together I couldn't distinguish neither the shop keeper.😓
M seems wider and S seems taller. But length wise looked same. (S was in black colour Atom, M was Evo 4 white), Could it be that both are same but colour reflection makes them different??

    5. They didn't even have a measuring tape 🙅. I returned without buying as I wanted either geo 4 white orange or Atom red. They didn't had S size in either of them. Also I read in xBhp earlier, "When in doubt, Back out". At 4500 Rs I don't wanna buy a too tight helmet that cause problems later, neither a fit fitting helmet that become too loose after some time.

I really wanna buy a MT Axiss. Please suggest what to do/look out for. 🙆

I faced similar issue with my MT helmet. The size I wear (M) was too tight for me, compressing the hell out of my skull. Months of wearing didn't make any difference. Then one fine day i washed the inner pads because it was full of sweat and since then it got much better.

Essentially you want a 'snug' fit. Once put on, the helmet should not wobble (atleast not too much). Also make sure the strap doesnt compress your throat. When I was buying my entry level DOT certified helmet, I got the Kranos one which can be seen in your photo in the far left bottom on the counter. My size was Large. It fits perfectly but Kranos helmets (since they are a new line) have a problem with the Straps. They will compress your throat if you dont adjust it properly

Review on the Kranos helmet coming up soon!

Problem is mainly that I look like an astronaut. 🙇. I want to buy the S size but even it looks big on my body. Any other brand you suggest . I'll wait for that Kranos review. S size fits a bit tight but the chin flap covers my chin perfectly, ears need to be adjusted everytime I put it in. Also while putting it it feels like it is squeezing my skull😫

If the cheek pad are just ok not pressing avoid, because they break in they will further loosen and it will start to wobble.

You have a Small head probably 55-56cm forehead diameter ; after a week or two once the pads break in they will be snug fit. S size recommended

Not sure, depends if you get extra cheek pads for MT Axxis and at what cost?

          4. Are the Shell Size M and S of same size??
          S&M have same shell size

          5. They didn't even have a measuring tape 🙅. I returned without buying as I wanted either geo 4 white orange or Atom red. They didn't had S size in either of them. Wise decision

          Few Tips before you buy

          1. Measure your forehead if it is 55-56cm range get the S size
          2. Axxis is a bit tapered at the rear making it look bulkier on slim folks. a) wear a riding jacket you wont look like a astronaut b) don't look at the mirror and compare, sit on your bike and see how it looks c) Take a look at the round helmets MT Blade or LS2

For I, use the MT Axxis Limited Evo White M and I am slim build. looks slightly odd without the jacket but looks are not primary concern

Do you know what the single most important piece of safety equipment is? Of course every piece of gear that you wear is important but if you answered ‘helmet...

This is the video I referred to when I bought my helmet.

I use a Kronos helmet myself. When I bought it, it was a little tight and a tad bit uncomfortable but there were no pressure points. After a couple of weeks the foam broke in properly and now it fits be much better and I feel really safe esp. because it doesn't move around or wobble. As explained in the video, when you try a new helmet you should not look for immediate comfort (otherwise it will become too loose over time) but for safety.

in a scale of 10 i would say 7. look at other lids bro with round shelf like MT Blade or even a LS2 (but i doubt you get a snug fit LS2 for your head size)

Ls2 is out of choice, even dealers don't know whether one is fake or genuine. I'll check out kranos as budget is under 4.5k ☺

Hey did you purchased MT helmet, how is it I did bought MT Muggello in Aug 2018, my Head size was measured 56 cms. Turns out M size from MT was perfect, was going for Twister but M size was loose & S was too tight. But after buying i noticed Muggello was already Jan 2018 manufactured, cheek padding got loose very fast, breath deflector broke in 2 months, rust was present ratchet mechanism, cracks on visor. I am not satisfied with MT helmets quality. Currently confused btw purchasing new cheek pads for existing helmet or buying MT Axxis or SMK Stellar/Twister.
