  • Karizma ZMR Fuel Pump Issue

    Hi guys,

I own a Karizma ZMR 2011. Although my ownership experience has been good about riding and handling of bike. But failure of fuel pump twice in four years is something you would like to happen.

One fine i day i came back from office, parked my bike. After around 3 hours. wanted to go out , started my bike but no response. Starter motor working but engine not starting, thought battery issue, but cleared that out. Left it to be checked for next day, again no solution, engine not starting.
Left for hometown for diwali holidays, came back and started bike after 1 week and it worked. But since i already had fuel pump failure in 2013, i didnt wanted to take any chance, so drove it to nearest svc. Asked them to check thoroughly. Received a call form them in evening that fuel pump has gone bad, it stops working after getting hot. Asking 14k for new pump.
I dont know what to do. Getting replaced second time in four years period is driving me crazy and big pain to take up and i dont find it worth as there is no guarantee for fuel pump not to fail for next 4 years.

Guys i read that that i can replace ZMR setup with CARB setup, so please advice is it good idea. And also suggest if i can get it done in somewhere in Pune. What could be cost of doing so?

The OE fuel pump is costly....I guess the pressure is about 30 PSi...you can try one of the fuel pumps with 100 LPH from Ali Express. You may have to wait for atleast 20 to 45 days for delivery...
Here is a link to one such example...

100LPH Fuel Pump Intank w/ Strainer Kit for Honda for Hyundai for Kia 15 90 PSI HFP 382-in Fuel Supply & Treatment from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

Thanks for the suggestion, i will look into this.

Also i found a guy in pune, who is saying that he can replace motor inside fuel pump with a new one and repackage it and in much lesser price. So what do you suggest, how this idea?

As long as the person doing the job knows what he is doing, there is no issue . Ensure it is cost effective.

Lucky me ... 2010 ZMR, 59K on the odo & stock fuel pump's in damn good shape ... The only parts replaced are headlamps, chain & sprocket set, set of tyres ... I love my old ZMR although I have ripped it on the highways around 127 Kmph, but nothing. I hope that your problem is sorted out & you continue to enjoy ZMR as I do ...
