  • Help!! Rear Spoke Break - Enfield C-GT

Had posted this on the ownership thread but no response there. Hence creating a new thread!

I broke a Spoke sometime last week on my RE-CGT. I hardly noticed it until it was was noticed by the watchman who washes the bike!! It's a rear spoke & I was in a hurry so still managed to ginigerly drive out to office. Now it's been almost 5days or so(i think) that I'm riding the bike with the broken spoke!!! cause I went to 2 service stations closeby and none have the rear spokes, not even a single spoke! They have front ones but not the rear. I was told by them that the regular Enfield CL500 or thunderbird spokes cannot be used on this & that GT has a Special spoke!! Which no one here seems to have...

Can anyone confirm that indeed the other enfield spokes cannot be used even as a stop gap! I was told that the following code spokes only will work - 585301/b 585302/b.

Are these standard spokes which can be found in the aftermarket somewhere? with motorcycle wheel builders or are these special spokes & I have to wait indefinitely for them.

None of the Bombay Spares have them can anyone from Bangalore or Chennai help me out! if it's not too much of a trouble??

I really do not wish to ride my bike like this with a broken spoke but I'm outta options as my palio is also gone for a full restoration!!!

Hey thanks for the info. I too was busy tracking down spares and have found a shop which supplies spares to most of Mumbai showrooms n its also listed on the Enfield website. Rajkamal auto at santacruz West is the place. But I had to buy the complete set of spokes n nipples for both wheels as that's how it's supplied and since he's basically a supplier he doesn't sell loose spokes. Total cost 1.7k for it which I feel is quite reasonable since these are ss butted spokes much higher quality than regular Enfield ones.

And it so happened that I had a rear flat tyre as well, and found that puncture repair guys are afraid of touching the bike. They said a few days back one big bike had come in and it took a good 2hrs to get the thing done as removing of these stiff sidewall tyres on aluminum rims requires press machines.

Mine too required one and thankfully a car tyre guy helped out. I feel I shud convert this into tubeless.
