Do up jetting is needed in my bike?
I've got Fiero F2 with the bore with 200cc XR stock Piston and NGK Spark plug+ Hp 42mm emmo still Air filter now it hits easily 120 km/hr .. the power n tourque is really fine in my fiero but i've heared that after installying K&N or HP free flow air filter it need to up jet the carb for better performance ... iz that true..to up jet the carb in fiero what size of jet is need to install in carb.wat is the original jet size of Fiero F2.....?

you will have to upjet to explore the full poential of your mods..
i think you mean you want to change the carb to that of the 220 or zma..
well you can do that too...but upjetting could serve the purpose just fine..
no idea about jet sizes though.

ok ok ....Actually i'm from Kathmandu, Nepal and around here no any Expert how can do up jetting carb..its bit True..so i'm planing to come India so do i need to bring my bike to up jet its carb or should i only need to bring Carb only...Originally posted by need4torque View PostJet size of:

Hi dps,
Jetting cannot be done by just getting your carburettor. You need to have the bike as well, to see how a particular setting works.
Plus, it also depends on the weather conditions, & the altitude that you are at.
According to what I have seen with my own experience, jetting is a hit & trial method, you will have to try various combinations of jets, needle positions & other stuff to get the right setting.
Take care.

..
same is the thing with me
i am having cbz classic 2002 model with me
and have recently installed k&n to it.
power is good but it is not so good as my
bike conditions..
so do jetting of the carb. will solve the the
problem...???

thanks

Whatever be the size of your fiero jet, ITs obvious tit will be smaller than the 200 or zma's jet. Just fix either of it. There are 2 jets in your carb. You need to change the main jet. its not rocket scince. Even you can do it if you know how to open you carb.Originally posted by dps View Postok ok ....Actually i'm from Kathmandu, Nepal and around here no any Expert how can do up jetting carb..its bit True..so i'm planing to come India so do i need to bring my bike to up jet its carb or should i only need to bring Carb only...

weather and jetting?!! intresting co-relation there!!Originally posted by blackfire_9 View PostHi dps,

any jet bigger than your stock will give you the desired results, bigger the jet more torque is the thumb rule here.

What are these two parts ??!?!?! The piston is what size>?? how much did you have to bore?? this will determine your CC.
yes upjetting is needed, it will drop your mileage. Although, IT will give you a good mid-range torque, your top-end will be unchanged.

i'm satisfied wid ur answers but i don't know the size of bore and piston...i just know its XR 200'z stock piston...so should i better to replace my Stock carb with p200'z carb.... now after installing HP air filter my bike'z torque is increase in plane but its power is very less in height ....what should i do the maintain same power in plane and height...Originally posted by me is rossi View PostWhatever be the size of your fiero jet, ITs obvious tit will be smaller than the 200 or zma's jet. Hey rossi,Originally posted by me is rossi View Postweather and jetting?!! intresting co-relation there!!

Yes there's a relation & you rightly identified it as interesting.
First of all, weather does play a role on your jetting, & this includes the air temparature & the humidity percentage. More the air temparature, lesser is the density, & hence your effective stoichiometric ratio will shift towards the richer side. When there's a humidity increase, the amount of air entering the engine again decreases, making the mixture richer.
So you need to take into consideration as to where you will be using the bike.
As for bigger the jet, more the torque, if it was this way, we would all be using the biggest of what we could get in the market, but it never works that way. A bigger than required size will actually lower your bike's performance, will end up fouling your plugs & slowly will lay the foundations for detonation & pre-combustion. Although I would really like if you could share some source where you have read or heard about this theory, may be I can learn something more out of it.
Take care.

Prakhar

Listen guys. Don't get too carried away and start looking at humidity and stuff. Yes, it is a factor but more so when you set the bike up for a race when all these factors become critical for best performance. For the street, plug chops will do. Picture this, you cannot keep tuning your carb every time the weather changes. So a set up which is the best compromise between rich/lean is what you need, maybe slightly on the richer side. Still better, get yourself the Mikuni pocket carb tuner. It is a little piece of printed cardboard that really helps, especially with the altitude factor of carb tuning. Google for it.

stock fiero jet is 97.5.
he XR200 has a bore size of 63.5, which means the CC is now 183cc.
People dont realise that by just putting a bigger piston, you cant generate more power. There is a lot more to tuning than just making things inside bigger and bigger.
I'll bet you that this bike will be way slower than a stock RTR in acceleration and top-speed stint.sigpic

Joel bro u r More Expert on these thing....so you may be true as per your knowledge...and i respect your words but i can bet my bike acceleration is better than RTR & p180..But i can't bet on Top end / Top speed cuz Usually Stock Speedo meter is never Shows True speed..Once i've hit 135km/hr With in 1km Distance with my TVS Fiero F2...But if it was true speed than my bike can run faster than RTR...hehe Joel Bro can i get ur e-mail address ...???Originally posted by Joel View Poststock fiero jet is 97.5.

^^ Hey mate, I couldn't quite understand your post, but then if you your bike's in stock condition, there isn't really anything to worry about. It is only when you have fiddled around with the system in any way, be it the intake or the exhaust (primary factor), would you need to consider upjetting or downjetting.
Ride safe.
