  • Analogue to Digital Speedometer Conversion

I wist if i could install a digital Speedo in my Discover 100. I think the Discover 135 ' speedo will fit in my bike but will it work? Will it show the RPM's as in my analog one there is no option for RPM. can it be fitted?
please give me some other ideas too ( Positive ones please unlike "what is the use of digital speedo / RPM meter in a small bike like 100 cc" )
and any idea of approx cost?

    Thnx.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

As long as your CDI has an rpm pulse out, no reason why it should not. Get hold of both the wiring diagrams for the 100 & the 135.

If you don't have an RPM signal out from your CDI you can always purchase a signal pickup like this:

This one is a expensive but lots of cheap alternatives available on the net.

If you have a cable operated speedo you will also have to get the wheel sensor from the 135.

I did something similar on my Pulsar 180 and my Funduro and let me tell you that after a few months I wanted the analog meters back because they provide you with a better feedback at a quick glance & nothing beats sweeping needles .

The mechanic is giving an estimate of Rs 4500+ for wiring and installing digital speedo.

i just want a RPM meter then he advised me to install pulsur old models analogue tachometer. he said the cost will be rs. 350 for wiring and rs 500 for the tacjhho in exchange with my techometer console.

        total of : rs 850.

        should i go for it???

That is totally your call, I would personally leave it like it is.

About the bold part, does he intend to remove your fuel gauge and put a tacho there instead ?

Because I can confirm this, fuel gauge is a lot more useful on a commuter than a tacho if you need to keep track of when to fill the bike up.

If everything else is kept intact, then its fine. Worth spending.

              Analogue to Digital Speedometer Conversion

              Hi Friends,

I have a Super splendor 2006 model and would like to upgrade the speedometer to a digital one, an integrated digital one with addition of RPM Meter. Will the RPM meter on integrated digital speedos work with my bike ?

I emailed to Hero Motocorp for their views on upgradation of my speedo to a digital one (like that of Hero Impulse) and get a positive reply form them, but not received any reply from them. Hence now can i know are there any skilled mechanics in chennai who can fix a digital speedometer console with RPM meter to my bike and make all features work? The digital speedo can be of any brand (HH /Bajaj/ Yamaha etc) but the mechanic should know his work well and be skilled in the mod and do a clear job.

I also emailed to Hero that they should start providing upgrades to Motorcycles, like if they introduce led lights or some extra feature in their latest version of bike then they can offer an upgrade to existing owners at a small price, for that also no response.

              Please suggest / help me.

              K.Ravi
