Hi Friends,
I am looking for a good trustworthy mechanic for my 2006 model HH Super Splendor. There are very few Dealers / ASC in area where i live (Chrompet) and reviews of some ASC are not good. I found a good local mechanic nearby my home who does a good job but with increased frequency he started charging more and more for petty works. These people once they know a customer will come to them start increasing their rates. Also he wants advance and wants the cash for spare parts also. I mean to say that some mechanics give choice of we buying the spare parts and giving to them. This time he recommended change of sproket kit / adjustment screws etc (around 1000-1200 rs) as chain adjustment is not happening and there is abrasion of chain with chain cover at low speeds / gears. I really am not in a mood to give him 1000rs but would just prefer to pay him his service charge and buy the big spares from spart parts shop and give to him. No issues with him replacing spares costing 50-100 bucks and charging me. Also he quoted charging labour for each work, 500 rs for only general service and washing (dont know what he is going to do in GENERAL service) , and 250 rs seperate labour for changing the chain sproket kit with chain adjusters.
I also am ready to give my vehicle at ASC but even these guys should do a good job. Can you guys suggest any good ASC or Mechanic nearby Chrompet wherein i can give my vehicle and be assured of quality service and spare changes? Rarely i find transparent ASC here. The ASC in my earlier city (small b-town) was so transparent regarding replacing spares of customer vehicles is that they used to give the old spares back to customers and had a big drum labelled waste spares outside the ASC. So customers took a decision whether to take spares with them or dispose it off. For oil change customers were returned the empty can of oil.
Is the quote of 500 rs for service + 250 rs for chain sproket change reasonable or better it give the bike to some good ASC. The reason why i didnt give the bike to ASC is they were quoting that bore has gone kaput and needs to be changed and will cost 15K for whole set, i didnt change bore and one day vehicle stalled on way to office , had to get it rebored at a local mechanics shop, he did a good job as the job was done approx 2 yrs ago and still bike works as a beauty.
