Re: Avenger 220 increased tapping sound
It very well maybe tappets. Takes a dead cold engine and 30 minutes at max for faired bikes, so I assume 15 min on an Avvy.Originally posted by AbhiAvvy13 View PostI am also facing the same at high speed. Does anybody have any idea?
Get tappets adjusted and let us know.

Re: Avenger 220 increased tapping sound
It takes time right? I mean on a cold engine? Mostly you need to adjust the tappets. Also, what parts have you changed?Originally posted by bencherian View PostAfter a general service and changing some parts of avenger last day I ride up to 110km/hr speed...there's increased sound of tappet after a long ride...its not from spark plugs i guess...i removed spark plug cable and checked.... what should i look for or say to service center guys if am going... actually i dont wana go again and again.... 1. Check the tappets adjustment.Originally posted by bencherian View PostIt happens on hot engine mostly.... NOT seen in cold engine... parts of clutch changed are shown in pic attached
2. Check if clutch is getting engaged properly or not. Because i see you've changed the pressure plate.

Re: Avenger 220 increased tapping sound
Ok. I was thinking of visiting the service centre within this week and try to solve it. The sound is very annoying whenever I go at high RPM in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear, especially in 4th and 5th gear. Metallic sound coming from engine(left side of engine). Though I didn't notice if this only happens when the engine is hot. Will confirm it tonight.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostIt very well maybe tappets. Takes a dead cold engine and 30 minutes at max for faired bikes, so I assume 15 min on an Avvy.

Re: Avenger 220 increased tapping sound
One thing I have also noticed is my mileage is dropped and there is a slight ticking sound whenever I am idling my bike(i.e. in the morning also). So I doubt that the sound is coming only when the engine is hot. Is it only tappet valve or something else?

Re: Avenger 220 increased tapping sound
I've also faced the same problem. But now the (tic tic) sound have reduced.
1. It was due to loose tappet,
2. Loose clutch,
3. Ignition coil (as mechanic told).
The things I did,
1. Tappet tightening
2. Clutch reassembled.
3. Ignition coil rechecked (but it was completely fine)
4. Add a more viscous oil. (Motul 7100 I'm using) . It does reduces engine sounds and vibrations.
