  • Is the chassis same for old bullet 350 (1997) and the new classic 350??

    Hello there,

Just a small query, as the title says..is there any difference between the chassis for old bullets compared to the new one?

The reason why i am asking is because,i have a 1997 model bullet stored and planning to restore it with new model parts( the rear end mostly, with tired, wheels, mudguard, seats, etc)

Would it be possible to just purchase and fix it or is there any mod to be done in order to do so?

I am from kerala, kollam district to be precise and it would be really helpful if someone can pen down a mechanic name who can do solid paint jobs and mechanical works.

    Thanks

adding new bits wont make a diffrence most bullet restorers do custom work.
like for my 77 bullet i have fenders and air box from 69 model and 77 model side boxes flattened.

also they were able to make the mount- hole custom adjustment. unless you are trying to change the engine mounts which are defnitely different in new model it wont be an issue.

Finally again you to my rescue...i am just planning to change the whole rear section to new classic...the seats, wheels and tires, mudgaurd, rail lights.

But what makes me think is that is the current frame enough to accommodate the new wheels and tyres as it wide section.

though you can go ahead with what you prefer i would advise against changing whole rear section.
keep the stock swingarm and rim and tyre. you can change seat, mudguard , tail lamps etc.

also you can get a wider tyre on the same rim. why invest in something which you can still use.
however if you still want to go ahead with it you may there are no major mods needed. also the new classic is 110 rear which i dont think will be an issue. however let me check tonight on how much clearance we have and get back on it. you can either get a wider section for stock 19 inch else move to 18 inch with a 110.

let me check further details and get back brother.

you can use this with stock rim without mods and same width as classic .. lkeep the old look mate. its looks nice.. you can spend the same money in getting wiring redone , clutch plate change , good service , MF battery and you are set.

also you can run your 350 with a 500 carb for more performance. find a good mech for proper tuning . .thats bout it.

As far i can see everyone is suggesting not to alter swingarm as it may play a dirty role in bikes overall handling and performance.

So i guess the dreams should be altered a bit..brother could please pm me your number so that i can bug you more effectively.. :-)

              Much thanks

PM sent. moving the whole rear end to a 18 inch wheel from a 19 will change a lot of things , engine stress, gearing ratios , handling and more..
keep the critical parts stock. do cosmetic mods if needed.

                  Hi Mibin,

any of the 1997 models (Standard, AVL, Delux, Export) will not have the same chassis as the new 350 Classic.

There are major difference in the geometry, and then the rear end is totally different, to a non trained eye it may seems the same.

I would like to ask are you facing any problems with the current Chassis that you have on your 1997 Bullet?

I had a 1970's bullet and it was used rough as well but still was never able to do wrong to the chassis.

I would recommend if you need to buy any new parts for your bullet buy correct parts from a Cast iron Standard Chassis. I have always found a Standard (OLD one and also the new one) more comfy then the classic 350.

If you need any more help please send me a PM. or email me.

                  Thanks

                  Deep.

                    Hi Deep,

Thanks alot for the information. There is no problem being faced, just fanxies tye new shape and wanted to repaint and give the rear end a rear lift ;-)

But now i guess i should just stick on to a wider rubber at the rear and subtle paint job.

                    Thanks
