    Battery Charge/Discharge & Other Queries

    Hey Guys!

    I own a P180 DTSi V2 and in all honesty its a babe! Anyways, I am facing a small albeit noticeable problem with my bike. When i start my bike in the morning, the horn sounds timid (low) as if the battery is weak. However if I ride at a high RPM, the horn sounds nice and loud once again. Thereafter, the horn keeps oscillating between low and loud. Is there any specific issue with the battery?

    Also, is there a place in PUNE, where you will get good spare parts/accessories at decent prices? Some place similar to Lamington road in Bombay!(Google Map Picture will be appreciated!)

    Thirdly, I need some reccommendations from you guys on a good mechanic in Pune for Pulsar's! being from Mumbai, I havent had time to find good reliable chaps around here!

      First find out if its a battery issue or a horn issue...

      As for spare parts, accessories and stuff, try the shops in Nana Peth area. But be very, very careful. You get all kinds of stuff there, good, bad, expensive, cheap, original, counterfeit, etc, etc. Check out a shop called Bombay Scooter house or something... its relatively much better.

        I am facing a similar issue with my ride too (180 classic). The battery and horn are both new. But here i feel the horn is at fault because it started giving me trouble after i got it washed at a service station. So i think you should check the horn settings first, the small setting screw behind the horn (still have to get my bikes horn checked though).

        For shops at lamington road:
        Go to Sterling auto for genuine and cheap bajaj spare parts.
        Go to Metro tyres for aftermarket mags and tyres.
        You could try out lotus spares for other accessories, he's pretty cheap compared to others out there.

        AND as Racoon said be very very careful with aftermarket stuff.

          Guys for preventove measured - check your Horns before you give your babe's for Water Wash (atleast while you give them to the Local water wash walas)

          THe service centre guys will do a good water wash but the local washers - they wash our babes like cows and Buffaloes......

          Make sure that we cover our horns - and batteries while water wash.....
          Its far more better to avoid local water wash.......

            Reevester, get your battery charged. I was facing the same issue sometime back which went away post the charge. Also sometimes there is a connection issue with the horn. A wire loose here and there. Get that checked as well

              @Kurtrules: OK, and does Bajaj get the battery charged? Or I gotta go to a mech/battery shop for it? Any idea how long it takes?

                  You can go to a battery dealer. Service centres usually have chargers too. Both of them will mostly rape your battery equally well. Never let them fill distilled water above the MAX mark. Also, you can't be sure they are using distilled water in the 1st place... so better do it yourself.

                    replace 6v with 12v

                    Is it possible to replace non self-Start bikez 6volts small battery with 12 volts Battery. for This should i need to change something else except battery...???

                      @DPS: Its is possible to replace the 6V battery with a 12V but a lot of things are required to be changed.
                      This may include.
                      1.Battery bracket (to accomodate the bigger battery)
                      2.All bulbs from 6V to 12V
                      3.Rectifier/regulator
                      4.Wiring Harness (not sure)
                      and a few more parts, maybe someone else here could add.
