  • Omni MF Headlamp for Bullet

    Hi Friends,

Have any of you fitted Maruti Omni's MF (round) headlamp for the "Bull"?
    If so,
    1) What are the mods required?
    2) What are the factors to keep in mind?
    3) Up to what wattage bulbs can be fitted?
    4) Should one use a cut-out for regulating the voltage?

    appreciating your response in advance
    thanks!

      Better Headlamp for Bullet

      Hi All,

Finally landed on Autopal MF headlamp for Ambassador as a good choice for Bullet.

I included Phillips Rally 55/60W halogen as well. Since the new Electra 5S has a relay, I didn't have to go for a separate relay.

The headlamp is awesome now. Both in low and high beams, I get more light and the best part is, it is focussed. I find this best for city riding.

If you recollect, the OE fitment has poor focus and is scattered widely whereas the mod I have done gives me great focussed, intense light. Riding is fun now even in night, and I love the way oncoming four wheelers now dip their light :-) Right respect for a bull! :-)

Just be careful while fitting, becoz, my mech damaged my speedometer - the odometer is working, while the speedometer is gone haywire. It does not come back, and shows high speeds even while rolling.

Any suggestions as to what could have gone wrong and how can I get it rectified?

      LOL

The ambassador headlight sealbeam by Autopal is by far the best one regarding beam focus. IMO you go for that.It is designed to handle upto 100watt bulbs. But your electrical system should support such high rated bulbs. Get a nice Osram Nightbreaker headlight bulb and yes you need to install relay cut out if your stock headlamp was 35watt. In order to save the switches from burning due to the excessive current drawn by the headlamp bulb, use a relay cutout for safety!Have fun @ night riding.

Till now my almost 4 Bullets are running on Rally Sports 130W/100 Philips.
Having extra cutouts for each filament. with 15amp fuse.
I am using the reflector which is suitable for 3 notch bulb (car bulb) had to changed the main out ring for the same. I did this mod on TB and Regular Electra, but only possible if the bike is having 12V/14 AMPS power pack.

@Pavan and Chinmay: Can you tell me what is the relay specs required and where it is to be fitted? Or how to install the cutouts? What is meant by changing the outer ring?

I am thinking of doing a DIY job on my Electra 5S ES.

Will the AMBY's reflector fit on Bullet STD ??

What are the things I will have to change??

Bullet Experts, help wanted for conversion to 12v system.

I ride a 1980 STD Bull which has 6v electricals.
I consulted my mech and he quoted 7000rs for converting to 12v

Is it really that expensive ??
What are the things I will have to change for conversion ??
What is the cost involved ??

              Need detailed explanation please.
