  • Help: Performance upgrade for Suzuki Max 100!

    Fellow xBhp'ians,

I have been a proud owner of a Suzuki Max 100 since 2002. I think these were the last of the 2-stroke lot that TVS produced. I am in love with my bike, its pick-up and its exhaust sound and don't want to sell it off, but what I want to do is upgrade the performance of the bike, and I need your valuable suggestions. My bike is powered by a 100cc, 2-stroke, 7.8 bhp mill. I've kept my bike in good condition with regular servicing. I want to squeeze the last ounce of power that this engine can give me. What should I do? I don't have the technical DIY knowledge of engine maintenance and hence don't want to go to some mechanic who would burn a hole in my pocket and would try to fool me and in turn would do some irreversible damage to the engine. That's why I am here and I know I am at the right place at the moment and hence want your help. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be grateful. I am in Noida, and hence can go to Delhi if the need be.

    Thanks in advance,

Max 100 is just pure commuter even you bore and port it the bike will never cross 11bhp, get a bigger carburettor say Mikuni VM 24 or 26 and a foam filter an be happy with it.

Else enjoy the way it is.

^^Many thanks for your suggestion psycho_98, I'd be more than happy with 11 Bhp, it is still a substancial gain from 7.8 Bhp. Where in Delhi should I get in done? What would be the total cost? I read somewhere in this forum that free flow exhausts work for 4 stroke bikes, and expansion chambers for 2 stroke bikes. I've zero knowledge about these. Could someone point me in the right direction?

yes..joel is right..get your hands on a shogun bore if you can..the crank too..put a bigger carb [RXG carb preferably] and a good filter, a nice-assed expansion chamber and you're good to go

                cheers

but before that, you can try a port setup on the existing setup..Nothing to lose there before u eventually graduate to a shogun bore what say?

                    Thanks Atul,

Just checked your blog, and have joined in to follow it, man your knowledge seems great with regards the performance tuning, I don't know the technicalities involved in tuning the bikes, but passion and perseverance are the things I appreciate and you've got both and more. Please make my Suzuki Max live upto its name, I want to Max it out and make it Fly! Keep up the great work, and help many more n00bs like me realise their dreams!

                    Regards,

I have experienced Shogun & Max 100 for good amount of time but I am no 2 stroke expert. I don't know if Shogun head can be fitted on Max 100. Shogun is an outright performance oriented bike. The porting, gearing and exhaust are all tuned for performance only. While Max 100 is more of a commuter. Many people in my area have tried to convert Samurai's into Shogun but nothing comes close to the real deal. Shogun is Shogun.

But I have seen a ported Max 100 with a performance chamber exhaust and it did have decent performance. You can also try those things i.e porting & custom expansion chamber. The performance would increase for sure but don't expect Shogun like thrill.
