Coon mate, can you list automotive batteries which are available in sealed, maintenance-free models? not those black inverter/ups batteries.

what was the battery that first came with the pulsar UG3? it wasnt exactly sealed but it was maintenance free. as in, it looked just like a regular battery but supposedly didn't need top-ups.

I also feel amaron is way better than exide.Heck even the railways use amaron batterys in the diesel locos.

AFAIK, only Amaron and BOSCH are sealed. As for the regular battery you are talking about which dosen't need top ups, it could still risk your bike due to leakage... esp. if its Exide or Amco!

Basically anything is better than Exide and Amco.

That's what i thought too when i first saw it in the gimmic laden ug3. they've just packaged the battery differently so that the water filling plugs aren't obviously visible.

and i've already experienced the famous exide leak, even with the breather pipe in place, some fluid leaked out and corroded the abundance of plastic wiring connector covers located near the battery of my fi. i don't know whom to be more pissed at, exide for the leaky battery or tvs for having so many goddamn wires all over the place!

I'd blame Exide for sure. It has absolutely no business to leak. After my last stint with $%&#@ Exide, I got Base Terminal (it isn't even VRLA). Its been over six months or so now... no leakages or even vapour on the battery top. But the damage it has done to my bike remains...

So just stay far away from Exide and Amco. The problem is with 7 Ah battries - only Exide (and I belive SF) and Amco make batts of this rating in India. So no Amaron/BOSCH/Base Terminal to choose from.

Thats not difficult dude. Simplest thing to do 1st is to check the earth wire which will be connected to the vehicle body. Make sure it makes a good connection with the metal. Anyway, what I'd first suggest you do 1st is grab your battery from the dealer and check the OCV using a digital multimeter (he should have one, even if you dont). IIRC it should read 12.5 or something very close to it. Make sure it is fully charged before you do this... and make sure you remove the surface charge before you do this. You can also load test the battery in front of you. Battery dealers should have the equipment for this.

any idea how much a Amarn 9ah is retailing for now ?

a dealer here quoted 1550INR seems a bit steep.

are you sure that the battery has been replaced under warranty. most of the times the dude's at the shop just charge and give it back you.
because with the riding you do there is no reason why the battery should recharge.

Make sure you have a replaced battery . Keep a tab on the battery serial number.

The bikes electrical's is a funny thing , you can get it all right and still have a problem . esp the older generation bikes. Now since you have checked it with various mech's , trouble seems to be at the battery end.

hmm.. then i guess its the electrical's.. no other go than to get it rechecked properly.

The Alternator is the mechanism that makes power to charge the battery and power the headlights and stuff.

Charge the battery, let it stand for at least a day, and then load test it in front of you. Battery dealers should have the required equipment. This way you will at least know if its the battery that is at fault or your bike's electricals.

yup..+1 to that.. perform the load test. thats the best way to rule out the battery issue and at least fix at which end the problem is.

                                Price of Amaron 9ah - 1400rs.

When I took 9ah battery for my Unicorn, faced charging issue for 1 week. The battery was bad . Took it to dealer, he charged n gave me. After 2 days same problem. Bombarded him properly n then he gave me new battery. That is working like a charm since 6months. And yeah my headlights are on DC without any wiring mods like rewinding or RR change.
